Hey Everyone...well I was surfing thru all my pics that I have on the computer and boy am I feeling low. I still cant believe how much weight Ive put on since September. Between knee surgery and being away at my first year of university there is a horrible difference between now and a year ago. I really need to and really want to get healthy and look my best. I know that its going to be hard work but I am determined. I have made it possible so that next year when I come back to schooll I wont relapse. I'll be cooking for myself and not eating gross cafeteria stuff! These are technically before and aftershots in the last year and a half. If I could look how I did in the first place and then 10 pounds lighter I will be thrilled cause that will put me in around 155ish. Which is decent I guess. I find once I start a diet and truly stick with it the weight litterally melts off but if something happens along the road I get stuck and then things start to fall apart! Let us all stick together! Congrats everyone for making it to whatever point you are now. The first step is to recognize that you have a problem and the 2nd is to do something about it!
When I felt really healthy...this was only like 6 weeks before the 2nd pic. This was grade 11..well the end of it and I had been playing rep volleyball and felt really good about myself...all went down hill soon after this :(
Before When I thought I could lose more weight. This was for an ex boyfriends grad and I thought I looked pretty alright here. Im a size 12 and I was maybe 170 I guess. The dress was a smaller size12 tho! LoL Some people think thats alot for a girl thats only 17 but Im 5'8 and alot was muscle weight. Im 19 now so I dont think that makes much of a difference. But anyways... I injured my knee twice in the last 18 months and have put on an obscene amount of weight due to being bed stricken
Now when I know that I am even larger than ever :( I think Im a good 210 here. eeek!! The hardest part of being overweight was admiting the number outloud to myself. Im determined to get healthy and fit again and stay that way but I need help to do it! I need motivation. Im still rather young and I like to know that there are other girls that are in the same position I am.

| Hey ksoanes, you can do it! It won't happen overnight, but if you are persistent and patient, you will succeed! The people on this forum are so great. I never could have stuck with this WOE (way of eating) for over a year without them. Hang tough, it's not just for looks but it's for good health and a long life, well into your older years too! :D |

| Welcome! I am 24 (which I consider fairly young) and have adjusted to sbd very well and so will you! College can be a big challenge as far as weight is concerned. I also was active in sports in high school and found myself without forced excercise in college. Many "skinny" girlfriends and peers kept me on a fairly good track, but working has proven even more difficult for me because it limits my time so much. You are doing a great thing getting started with sbd now so that when you get to be and "old" 24 year old like myself you'll know just what to do. I can't emphasize enough how happy I am with this woe and how confident I feel that I will never go back to my old habits. I'm sure you'll have tons of success, too, if you give sbd a chance. I am excited to hear from you on this forum and monitor your success. Thanks for posting the pics -- I still haven't fond the nerve to show mine! |

Hi, I think you are so brave for posting your pics! I can relate to your story, I am 25 now, and have always been heavy, but lost some weight in high school, I was about 180 or so my sophmore year, and a size 14/16(I'm 5'2") It's funny because I thought I was so fat, and now I look back and think, what I would give to look like that again 8) Anyway, I have been doing SB for 5 weeks now, and lost 23.5lbs, and 14" which is great in my book. I love this WOE, I feel so much better, and I sleep better, and all my previous stomach problems are practically gone.
Stick to the boards, they are an incredible source of support. Start a diet journal on the forum, it also helps. I am in no way an expert on SB, but if you have any questions, feel free to PM me or stop by my journal. |

| I really do like the idea of this message forum. I truly find it helpful and an inspiration. I have been really good with my eating patters this past 9 days aslong with my exercise regime. I out of 9 days Ive gone 7 times and for at least 75 minutes so I figure that is why combined with my WOE that Im losing weight. Im not doing the south beach way exactly. because of meal hall it would basically be impossible for me to eat anything!!!! Trust me on that. I went to my nutritionist today and she said that I could prolly do phase one and then continue with eating how I am right now and be in good shape by the time April 20th rolls around...that is when I want to meet or be around my mini goal. I want to lose most the weihgt Ive gained since moving here. She thinks for my blood chemistry I should do phase one now but I really dont know how to accomplish that with meal plan. Any suggestions on that? You guys are awesome! Talk to you soon! |

Ksoanes - I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm taller too (5'9") and remember thinking I was the fattest person in high school at 140ish (size 6-8) because all of my friends were these little 5' tall gymnasts. Now I would kill for that body again! It's taken me a long time to understand that height and muscle tone cause me to weigh significantly more than my friends.
Also, props to you for starting SBD while you're having knee problems. I busted my knee snowboarding my freshman year of college and promptly gained about 30 lbs due to limited mobility and cafeteria food. I resorted to pulling the trigger to lose the weight - your method is far healthier and I wish I'd known about it then.
Anyway, best of luck! |

| You're not alone. I too am 5'9", but I am only 17. I'm a golfer, but in the winter I work out, but I eat a lot, which is why I weigh 155. If you need a friend, I'm here. |
