and

I've just re-dedicated myself and am working hard at continuing my weight loss-- I believe that I'm down about 4 to 5 pounds from my start weight [edited on 1/26/06 to add-- start weight was 185, so I was probably about 181 here]... and I'm on a long road down.

Will post continued progress...

thanks for the encouragement, I really want to succeed... I am so good at so many other things in my life, but have never mastered my weight.

I can only say that I hope this is my time-- but that doesn't sound strong enough, doesn't sound motivated enough to me-- so I'll have to say that I'll keep on trying...I won't give up.

Just keep telling yourself you can do it!! If you can manage to stick with it for a couple months, it will be all downhill afterwards. Once you start seeing the difference, in the mirror, in your clothes, in peoples attitude towards you, you will be unstoppable. Then, when you reach the point where shopping becomes fun again, oh watch out!!! Good luck to you, and remember two things:

1. This place will provide all the inspiration and support you will ever need.

2. Just because you 'fall of the wagon' or cheat, doesn't mean you failed, just start again, immediately. Not tomorrow, or next week, but immediately. Never let yourself lose the southbeach mentality and you will be just fine.

I started with similar stats and I know you can do this. Just think this is a new way of eating- not a diet! You have already made some great progress and know how good that feels!!!! Everyone here is supporting you. I can't wait to see all the progress you have made! Keep it up!!!!!!

Thanks!

I will post some new pictures pretty soon, people have been noting that I am looking thinner-- I don't know if it will show up in pictures though, b/c I was already a bit down when those were taken in February.

more to follow soon, and many pounds before I'm done...

Um... are you smiling in the new photos? Cuz you look like you're waiting for the firing squad in the first ones... why is it that we always do that? I'm the same exact way... til recently, I'd try to hide behind the camera if at all possible. Now, I smile!

By the way, you have striking features. Guess that's why I was hoping the smile!

Good luck to you!

Just bumping this up to say that I've been back for about a month now... I kept at it for an entire year... trying various plans after I got tired of South Beach and didn't quite 'get it.'

But I saw a nutritionist in the beginning of January who helped me change my life... though she's not a proponent of South Beach per say, she basically had me cut out all crap carbs and processed foods. I'm now on whole carbs (limited basis and always with protein to blunt glycemic effect)-- doing great!

Last weigh in on 1/25/06 was 165.5! Pictures as soon as I can download them...
