We always travel with a jar of peanut butter {started doing this because of DH's diabetes and unfriendly morning breakfasts in motels}. Since SBD I have added some ww bread and apples.
This way there's a choice of toast (or bread) and PB or apple and PB--either of which is good for breakfast.
Another thought would be Triscuits and cheese slices. I think the individually wrapped slices would be ok even without a fridge for a couple of days.
If you have time to bake ahead, these breakfast cookies are good and would travel well. I used cut up prunes for the dried fruit. A 1/4 cup measuring cup scoop gave me 9 cookies, so 2 would be a serving. These freeze well, travel well and 1 could be used for a snack.
Breakfast Cookie
1 1/4 c. oatmeal
1/4 c. raisins (or use cranberries, prunes, etc)
1/4 c. ww pastry flour
1 1/2 c. dry milk
1 c. applesauce
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup splenda
Preheat oven to 350. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or spray.
Mix all ingredients together til thoroughly blended. Spoon 4 large mound on sheet and bake 15-20 mins.
Key is to slightly under bake them so they stay soft. They have lots of possibilities too, nuts etc |

Usually when I travel I enjoy eggs for breakfast as it's easier to order an SB friendly egg dish than it is to find SB friendly hot or cold cereal.
Is that an option for you?

Thank you all for your information. This will be a great help. I may make up a couple of different things as there will be 4 of us women in one room. We will not be going out for breakfast, since we are at a conference and there are 4 of us to get dressed and be at meetings by 8am. We have usually had rolls that are wayNOT on the plan so I wanted to bring things that would be good for me and taste good for all. In the evening we will be bringing cheese and crackers so I will go for the SBD friendly ones and will share with all. Will also bring drinks and coffee that are SBD friendly that I like. Nothing like being hungery and there is nothing that is good for you, that is when I relly go off.
Again thanks for the information.

I hadn't heard of any bars being recommended by SB. Where did you see this information? |

First let me say that the two breakfast recipe that you gave me were great I have made the both of them up and will take them into my boss and see if she likes them, since she is going with me on this trip. I having one problem with the breakfast cookies, My husband is eating them too, so may have a problem keeping them around. Will make more of both just before the trip.
As far as the post carb well goes Iknow that Kraft was going to go into making things that were SB friendly and post is owned by kraft. Ilooked the bars up on the internet and they do look better than most of the bars that I have seen in the stores another one that they had compaired them to are the quaker Q smart bars I am not sure if I have ever seen either one of these in our stores here.
let me know what all of you think.
thanks again for the info. |
