If anyone can relate I need all the help I can get. I started SB Jan 10 @ 156lbs. Since then I have lost 15lbs, which is wonderful and gave me tons of motivation to really stick with it. But the last two weeks I haven't lost or gained a thing and it's really frustrating. I wanted to be down at least 20lbs by next weekend (big company awards banquet) so I'll look great in my dress. I don't understand what's going wrong, I've stuck to the diet 100% - I even started walking at night. Does anyone have any suggestions to keep up the weight loss? Should I go back to Phase 1? Do I need more exercise? HELP! Just to give you an idea of my menu here's what I'm having today:
B - 12oz V-8, whole wheat toast w/reduced fat cream cheese
S - Cheese stick and almonds
L - Wendy's Chili and side salad
S - 12oz V-8, almonds
D - Chicken salad on whole wheat, veggie sticks and ranch dressing
S - Sugar free popsicle
Feeling down!!! Please help!

Krista - first thing is relax! Second is congratulate yourself on losing 15 lbs. I'm sure that's made a huge difference. Third - your body may be adjusting to the loss. A number of people find the adjustment to P2 keeps them at one point for a while, then they start losing again.
As for food - I'd suggest cutting some of the almonds. You don't say how many you're having at each snack, but it may be above the 15/day limit? Also, have you given your body time to adjust before adding in 2 servings of grains per day? That may be part of the problem. Also, you don't say how big the salads are - you should be getting 2 cups of veggies each at lunch & dinner.
Finally, you may need more exercise. When you say you walk, what does that mean? Power walking, or sauntering? 10 minutes or 30?
Most of all, though, 15lbs since 1/10 is fabulous. |

First of all a disclaimer: I'm no expert. But what strikes me is too much V8 juice. I think 6 oz at breakfast and no more during the day. There is quite a bit of salt in that and veggies should be eaten, not drunk.
I assume you split the almond allowance between the 2 snacks.
There don't seem to be enough veggies at dinner.
Where's the fruit :?: I think adding berries or an apple each day would help.
Sometimes eating more will help break the stall.
I know it's frustrating, but sometimes the body needs to take a break {plateau} before it starts losing again.
Hang tight--it will happen. |

You may want to cut down to one V-8 each day as well. The regular type has quite a bit of sodium, and I believe the guidelines call for one 6-oz. serving.
I can't imagine you need to go back to Phase 1. You've not mentioned cravings and that would be the only reason to go back.
I bet you'll look great in your dress with your 15-pound loss. If you're feeling less than confident, go to Victoria's Secret and get some of their super-duper hold it all in pantyhose. They're amazing. |

15 pounds in a short period of time when you don't have a lot to lose is amazing!!! Let yourself feel great about it, and be patient. I'd suggest expecting to lose no more than 1 pound a week on average. That means some weeks with no loss, maybe some with more of a loss. That way, you can let yourself feel good if you lose 1 pound in a week, patient if there's no loss on the scale, and great if it's more than a pound!
Yea, I agree with people's observations about the v-8 and almonds, and I'm curious why you're not eating fruit, but that's secondary. |

Hi Krista-
Looks to me like you're consuming too much fat which, as you know, as a concentrated forms of calories.
Reduced fat cc, cheese, almonds, more almonds, chicken salad (mixed w/ some fat-based mayo, even if it's low-fat, right?), ranc dressing.
For your first snack: how about replacing the cheese and nuts w/ some vegetables and/or lean protein? |

This is putting yourself under an extraordinary amount of stress.
You're already down 15 pounds, you should be very pleased with your progress so far. I agree with the others as to how to tweak your plan. Good luck!
P.S. I have 30 pounds to lose and I still look great every day... whether I'm in a dress or not! Looking great comes from attitude... not dress size. |

First let me start by saying Thank You! to all for your great advice and suggestions. I do need to clarify, I want to lose a total of 30lbs, and I've been power walking everynight for 1 1/2 weeks now. As far as my diet, I do have fruits every other day, same with the grains. I always have big salads for dinner or lunch (usually w/chick or steak strips). As for the cheese and almonds, cheese is always FF or at least reduced, and I limit my daily almond intake to about 30. Dressings and mayo I use are all carb friendly. I guess I am having way too much V8 but sometimes I don't have time to get a full meal and the V8 seems to help with the hunger, plus I figured it would be OK since it's veggies but apparently not. So from now on I will limit the V8, try more veggies than cheese, and try more exercising.
Thank you again for all your advice and support. I swear I don't know where I would be if I never found this site. Thanks guys!!!

| The power walking may mean you're losing fat but gaining muscle... hence the stall. Do you take your measurements? You may be surprised! |
