I am on week 4 of p2 and have lost close to 11 lbs. I lost about 5.5 on p1 and lost two per week on the first two weeks on p2. Last week I only lost 1 lb and I am worried I could be overdoing it on the starches/fruits too soon. I have increased my cardio workout by 15 min/day last week, however, and eat very small servings of grains. I feel as though I am still losing inches so I'm not too discouraged, but if anyone would like to look at my meal plan for the average day and comment, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance and happy Valentine's Day!
B: Either eggs (w/ salsa and lf cheese) and a few berries + low sodium v8 +tea or oatmeal (w/ organic raw unsalted almond butter) +v8 + tea
S: usually sf jello with nuts (if no pb for breakfast) or lc cheese or cottage cheese with nuts (again, if no pb for breakfast)
L: usually a lot of raw veggies with ranch dressing for dipping (no more than 1 serving) and some lean meat, sometimes chili and a salad, sometimes just a large salad
S: sf jello, sometimes a few berries or half apple with cheese or pb(if none for breakfast)
D: Usually a lean meat like chicken or fish, sauteed or steamed veggies (at least a few cups), and a small serving brown or whole grain rice (max 1/2 c) or sweet potato (1/2) w/ brummel & brown and a small glass of milk. Sometimes I eat homemade soup and make a salad or have chili, etc.
I try to eat as little processed food as possible and to avoid sodium - I drink diet rite soda (only 1 a day) and use low sodium chicken broth, v8, etc. I am wondering if I shouldn't drink a little more milk or eat some yogurt. Does everything look okay??? :? |

| Oops...I forgot, I do eat dessert most night, too! I sometimes have the ricotta creme dessert, nsa fudgesicles, the peanut butter cup dessert (if no nuts earlier), nsa hot cocoa, sugar free cider, etc. I try to stay within the 75 calories of the sweet treat limit, sometimes it varies by 20 calories on the high end. |

| Helga, it sounds to me like you are doing a terrific job! We want to gradually work up to 3 fruits per day and 2-3 grains per day, with 2-3 servings of dairy per day, too. That's a lot of food, when you consider you are still supposed to have 2 cups of veggies for lunch and 2 more for dinner! Your loss will slow down as you go through Phase 2 and you may have a week or two where you don't lose anything, or you even go up a little bit. These are normal fluctuations and this doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. Keep up the great work! P.S. - What's in the Brummel & Brown? Check the ingredients, I don't hear a lot of people on this forum using it. |

| Hmm....well I'm not sure off the top of my head what's in Brummel & Brown, but I know it doesn't have trans fat. It contains yogurt. I'll check it out and let you know. Thanks for your help -- I guess I'll just keep doing as I am and hope I keep losing. I know I feel great and look better so I feel successful already! |

B&B is a trans-fat free margarine. It contains a small amount of yogurt (10% I think??) as an extender to cut down on the overall fat content as well. We used it for a long time before SB and found nothing in it that would deter us from continuing to use it, so we do!
Adding in some milk and/or yogurt might not be a bad idea either. There are studies that have shown that including milk in your diet facilitates your overall weight loss, and that calcium tablets on their own are not as effective. Here is one link I found: http://www.vancouveryoga.com/milk.html |

Hey I just searched on Bummels & Brown and found this page:
http://www.brummelandbrown.com/ It looks like it is made by the same folks as ICBINB and will soon be called ICBINB with Yougurt! And it also looks like it does contain PHOs, so maybe we will start looking for another alternative like Smart Balance. Dang... |

| Go Figure! I'm not particularly attached to my B&B, however, feeling that nothing compares to the flavor of butter. I guess I'll have to pick up some smart balance. Luckily, I only use it on sweet potatoes and how many of those can a person really eat?! Thank you for the update, I am always appreciative of any feedback that keeps me better informed. |

| If you decide too make the switch too Smart Balance, it does have a really good taste. I was very pleasantly surprised when I first bought it. I don't think it is that much moe expensive than Brummel & Brown. Do they still have the flavors? I used too love those! LOL |

| Not sure about the flavors, but I remember them - they were good! Glad to hear smart balance is tasty. I think I'll give it a try. I want to make President's chicken tonight so I can use it then. |

I use the olive oil Fleischman's spread.... I don't have it in front of me... but I think it is fairly good... ok, I just went to their website and got the following:

Monounsaturated Fat 2.5g
Cholesterol 0mg

Does the "PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN OIL" make it a no go? |

| That is so confusing, when the label says 0g Trans Fats but right there in black and white it says partially hydrogenated soybean oil! I'm afraid to look on the label of my Smart Balance now. |

| Yeah, it is that whole 0 gms of trans fats PER SERVING deally-bob. If it's under 0.5 gms per serving they are allowed to round down and call it zero. So if you are the FDA and beholden to the large food conglomerates, zero doesn't really mean zero. It means mostly zero, but not quite zero. To those of us who passed our math classes and have an appreciation that zero is in fact zero, it tends to mean something different! The phrase "fuzzy math" comes to mind! |
