Hello everyone...
I know someone posted something recently on this same topic, but I wanted to talk about this and shed a little light on the subject and hopefully, get some other inputs. :D
First off, let me explain a little about the diet...
"The 3 day diet focuses on mixing certain types of foods that create a reaction in your digestive system. The chemicals are supposed to boost your metabolism and help you burn fat at a higher rate than usual. The diet only lasts for 3 days and should only be repeated after taking 2 days off. The specific portions need to be followed by the book, or you may not achieve your desired results.
Breakfast on the first day begins with coffee (no sugar), 1 egg, half of a banana, and a piece of toast. For lunch, you are allowed a cup of cottage cheese or tuna and 8 regular saltine crackers. Dinner consists of 2 beef franks, a cup of broccoli, half a cup of carrots, half of a banana, and half a cup of regular vanilla ice cream. The other two days of the diet are relatively similar.
This diet tends to leave the dieter at a very low energy level. Beyond that, dieters mainly lose weight because of the low caloric intake. Some people also gain the weight back as their eating habits never really change in the long run." (Taken from: http://www.thedietchannel.com/3-day-diet.htm )
IMO ~ This is a good motivation. I'm kind of in a "lull" right now... no motivation whatsoever... But I decided I'm going to start this on Monday (V-Day) and do it through Wednesday. That's all I'm commiting to is 3 days. My husband and I just bought an eliptical that I'm going to be using at home. So this will kinda jump start my metabolism and get me going in the right direction again. After the 3 day diet, I want to exercise and watch my caloric intake. I'm interested to see how my body will react or respond to this. If any of you are interested, I will be posting my 3 days in the "Your Diet Journal" forum.
I understand this is a SBD forum... but I'm thankful to know people for over a year now who are very supportive in the SBD, but also ~ carrying out "new life plans" for being healthy, fit and tone!
Thanks everyone....
P.B.
Disclaimer: One more thing... after researching this diet, I DO NOT believe this is a healthy WAY OF LIFE. I do believe, however, as I previously stated, that it is a good motivation and jump start INTO a healthy way of living whether it be eating better, the SBD, etc. And who knows... that might change after I actually DO it! Stay tuned for my post in "Your Diet Journal"! :D |

| I'm confused as to how your metabolism will increase if you are barely eating any food? I couldn't do this, I'd be too hungry. But it is interesting to see what the results will be. |

Good luck!
I think if I ate beef franks at this point, my stomach would rebel too much. |

To answer your question: It's all about the foods you'll end up eating. Eating almost the same things for three days will throw your metabolism out of whack. Plus, not eating as much will help with your caloric intake, which will inturn make you "lose weight".
I guess we'll see how it goes! |

Hey thanks, LyndaB!
LOL! :D Yeah, I had a hot dog the other day and actually threw up a little... :( So, maybe for that one thing, I should substitute with something else?? |

| Now a days, beef products tend to make me ill, I wonder if the Healthy Choice Reduced Fat Hot Dogs could work? THey are a combo of beef & chicken. |

Thanks, paiger, I'll have to check those out at the store today. I wonder if I could substitute with sausage? Or just chicken?? I'm sure it's to give it a variety of meats/protiens. I know there are no substitutions, but if hot dogs make me sick - maybe I SHOULD substitute? :? |

But...on the other hand, if you make any substitutions, and their plan is based precisely on the combination of foods you've been given, essentially you won't be doing their plan as prescribed. Why suffer unless you're going to do it full-blown? In other words, you have to eat what they dictate. Make sense? |

Yeah... thanks for your input. :) I'll do it exactly and if I throw up then I throw up... then, it'll be even LESS calories..... Ok, had to throw that in there!!! ;) |

I thought the same thing the first time I walked into a Fuddruckers--but their hamburgers are really good. Luckily we don't have any around here. |
