HI all!!
Sounds like you all had a great week. I lost only 2.5 pounds. I have one more day on P1 then I move to P2. I am seriously considering starting P1 over and being a little more strict with the portions. Maybe I have had too much fat free cheese? I also have been drinking red wine in lieu of my dessert. I'm not sure if your not supposed to have it because it slows down weight loss,or if it is supposed to make you hungry. It has NOT made me hungry. I have been full.
I don't know what I did total, as I did not weigh myself to start off. (I was scared). I do know my shirts are getting a bit looser.
Has anyone else had a really slow start on the first two weeks? I see everyone lost like 10 pounds or so. If they did have a slow start I am wondering if going into P2 kicked it into gear...or slowed you down more???
I know I shouldn't have been drinking the wine, but I went from drinking TONS of beer everyday, and I didn't want to just stop cold turkey, so I figured I would give up the evening dessert and just drink the red wine (which is good for you).
Any thoughts.....comments?
Need advise on P2 which will be Friday if I decided to go ahead.
THANKS!!!

Why is it that so many people have a hard time enjoying a 2.5 lb weight loss in a week!! And your shirts are already looser!! What's not to like so far?? Yippee for you and congratulations!! Great job on another week on SB and being that much closer to your goals!! Weight loss is not a particularly good comparative sport and is neither linear nor particularly predictable!! Focus on being healthy and learning how to eat well and healthily for the long haul and the weight should eventually take care of itself. This is a marathon, not a sprint and over time your loss may average out to 1-2 lbs per week which is the recommended rate for healthy, and most likely to remain permanent, weight loss.

And according to Dr. A, his primary goal of P1 was to get rid of cravings, not necessarily to experience rapid weight loss, although some people are lucky enough to experience both! The fact that you are noticing your shirts fitting more loosely means that SB is in fact working just as it should as he expects people to lose belly fat first (and not necesssarily pounds) if they are breaking down their insulin resistance habits. If you have been able to accomplish that while drinking wine, and don't have cravings because of it, then be happy about that as well! And you aren't alone, some people just don't want to give up their alcohol in P1 and still have success in the long term anyway. At least you have switched from beer to red wine which will likely be healthier for you in the long run as well.

Finally, for advice on moving to P2, I will throw in a plug to a thread I started on that topic. You can find it here: http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25541 Also Kimboroni's FAQ is a wonderful resource and she has now broken it down into P1 and P2 FAQs. The link in my sig line will take you to the main thread and give you links to both the P1 and P2 pages. It has lots of good info about a variety of subjects like food lists, menu plans, acceptable cereals, and a whole lot more!!

Don't worry, be happy!!! You are doing just fine for you!!
