I just finished day 8 of phase 1 and have definitely found that there are temptations and reminders around every corner for the foods that I am not supposed to be eating. Commercials for pizza, the guy on the bus with yummy smelling chinese food, the girl on the bus with the chocolate eclair, etc. etc. I am really excited about the fact that I have not cheated yet. I've often thought about eating healthier or starting a diet, but never often got far beyond the thought stage. Instead of being someone who has tried a lot of diets, pills, shakes, or powders, I have been someone who never even started. So since deciding to come to the beach, I am pleasantly surprised to see that I am committed to this. I want to feel better about my body and myself. I didn't weigh myself before starting, and am not sure when I am going to. The fact that I already feel better is inspiration enough for me.
Now for the funny anecdote. I went to a meeting for my job today and there were snacks...baby carrots, butter crackers, cheese, and peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses. Of course, I desperately wanted a cookie (I love that kind) but could only eat the cheese according to the rules of phase 1. So I sliced two small slivers (since it wasn't part-skim) and cut it up into tiny pieces (as to make it last longer/feel like I was eating more). First my boss asked "Are you setting a mousetrap?" :D Then a few minutes later a girl asked, "Why did you cut your cheese up like that? Do you have a tooth problem?" Awww. Haha. I just smiled and said "Nope, I'm just strange like that."
Thought some people might get a laugh out of that one. Any other similar stories of eating in front of people who may not know you're on the beach? |
