Hello, I am in my second day of SBD. I am doing better than I thought I would at this point. I exercise regularly. Mostly weights and elliptical trainer. This is great but unfortunately my diet was horrible. I thought that even though I exercised 5 days a week I could eat whatever I wanted. I turned 38 and found out I am pre-hypertensive and with elevated cholesterol levels. So here I am. I read the book and liked what this diet has to offer. The first two weeks are going to be tough(I love bread and pizza). My question is have you all seen a worthwhile loss in the first two weeks? thanks for listening.

It really depends on the person and their specific circumstances. Some do great and others get frustrated early because they don't lose much to start with. You will only know by trying! This is a really great way of eating though, for overall health as well as weight loss. The first two weeks are not really the point of the program though. It is mostly to get rid of the cravings from your blood sugar spikes and responses from all the refined and high GI foods you have likely been eating. It really wasn't intended by Dr. A as a quick weight loss phase, although for some it works that way. The "real" program is in P2 and it is where you really learn how to eat well and eat healthy for the rest of your life! Don't try to make more out of your P1 weight loss than it is, which is usually mostly water weight anyway. Stay focused on your long term goals of addressing your health issues and getting into an eating program that will likely improve all those numbers in addition to the ones on the scale! Good luck!

I'm on my second day as well and I haven't lost much weight I am seeing results. I feel better and I look better. But I think it is a good plan and it is worthwhile. I used to do the Atkins and though it made you lose a lot of weight, it made feel so extremely tired and exhausted. No energy and when you have kids that can get really difficult. At least this diet stresses the good carbs, veggies, low fat dairy, etc. Good luck!!

Hi fellow Ohioan!
I 'm in week 2 of PH 2, and I DID see good results in PH1 - 10 lbs! And although I didn't lose a darn thing last week, "parts and pieces" must have shifted around somehow - my clothes fit even looser. The whole SB-thing is starting to come easier for me - I don't have to rush to the books/boards before I put something in my mouth anymore. I know the rules, I get inspiration/recipes from these boards, and it's up to me to be healthy! Although I did covet my two daughters' (1 and 3 1/2) mac-n-cheese today, I KNOW that eating better is the right thing to do!!

Hi !
I am brand new here too........................Today is day 7 for me on Phase 1.
I finally got on the scale this morning...........and almost fell off of it when I found out I had lost 9 pounds in 6 days! (That made today (day 7) a breeze !!)
I follow the diet 100% and I really enjoy the V-8 juice every morning...that is a totally new addition to me!
Good luck and stick with it.........! |

One suggestion: Don't weigh yourself everyday- instead, do it weekly, or bi-weekly. BTW, on day 7 of week 1, my husband was down 11.4# and I was down 5.5#. Good luck to you- this WILL work!

hey
during phase one when i did SBD this summer i didn't lose very much at all! BUT, all my clothes were loser and i could see a BIG difference in how i looked. i think that as i worked to lose the weight i had gained muscle so visualy to me yes, what the scale says no but that does not mean that phase one does not work. you will lose weight in phase one but you may also gain muscle so do not constantly refer to your scale, it is just one way to measure sucess.
