Hi all. I have recently started Phase 1...tomorrow will be a week. Through this process I have come up with a few questions, that I was hoping someone could help me out with.

1. How many daily carbs are acceptable during the first week? I am finding that most of the recipes in the book and the majority of the approved foods have at least one carb in them. So, I was wondering what the # of carbs was that are allowed.

2. I found carb free ice cream at the store, is this acceptable for Phase 1?? I know it says no ice cream but, since it's carb free I was wondering....humm...I must say it is really helping to curve sweet cravings.

3. Have any of you found suppliments (like Hydroxicut, etc.) to work?? If so what is the brand...I am really looking for something to maximize the effectiveness of this diet. Although the people at the store will give you hours of benefits, I was just wondering if someone who isn't working on comission has any thoughts.

Needless to say I am trying to lose a significant amount of weight...Although I have lofty goals, I know I will get there eventually. If anyone is able to help me I would be more than appriciative. Thanks all. Look forward to hearing from you. Best of luck to everyone...keep on going.

meredith,

I don't think the SB diet is a true carb counting diet. There are good carbs and bad carbs!! I would not have Ice cream till phase three!!! Any sweeties that you add outside of sugar free jello or the ricotta cheese dessert is just going to make you crave more. It's not a matter of staying within your carb limit, it's eating the RIGHT carbs and passing on the bad carbs!!

remember SB is really about healthy eating... not supplements or chemicals.... eating healthy carbs.

You might want to re-read the book, to get the whole concept of the plan.

Good luck!

- have you read the book? It doesnt seem your on the right track as to the idea of this diet.
On the SBD you do NOT count carbs, it is not a low carb diet, its a good carb diet.

2. I found carb free ice cream at the store, is this acceptable for Phase 1?? I know it says no ice cream but, since it's carb free I was wondering....humm...I must say it is really helping to curve sweet cravings.

- Again, this is not a low carb diet. You will find most of the low carb/carb free brands are not acceptable on this diet. The ingrediants used to make those items are not normally acceptable on the SBD. You should not be eating that icecream on P1 or P2- actually Dr. A addresses ice cream in the book.

3. Have any of you found suppliments (like Hydroxicut, etc.) to work?? If so what is the brand...I am really looking for something to maximize the effectiveness of this diet. - This diet is about eating natural, whole grains, just a healthy lifestyle. Thse sort of drugs do not fit in with this diet. I wouldnt reccomend any of those in conjunction with this diet.
