I was reading through the posts and it looks like a few of us are starting South Beach tomorow (Monday). For those of us starting tomorrow I thought we could establish this thread. We'd be on the same day, going through the same things and we can share our experiences and keep each other on track.
I'm Jen, I am a law student in North Carolina and I eat at McDonald's practically every day. I guess that last part is going to have to end. LOL
Post if you're interested.

Of course I don't mind, anyone joining within a few days of tomorrow is more than welcome. I just wanted us to be close to the same stage so we'd all be in about the same place to help each other out.
Lynda, I bet it's nice and warm in CA it's pretty cold here in NC. We had freezing rain yesterday.
Berylayn I just moved from Richmond, VA and my mother-in-law is a teacher in northern VA.
I'm off to go grocery shopping.

Jen Hen --
Good Luck grocery shopping. I did that earlier today. Bought a lot of great P1 foods and roasted some chick peas to snack on when I got home.
Do you know what school district your mother in law works in?
I went to William and Mary for college - which is not extremely close to Richmond but I spent some weekends in Richmond nonetheless. :) |

WEll...I just got back from the store and got all my stuff for the week. Tomm is going to be exciting. I was just wondering.. do u guys have your week planned already with meals, or do u kinda just "WING" it and decide what you are going to eat from everything you just bought at the store? I am the type of person that gets bored real fast with the same stuff... so I have to make sure that I am constantly mixing things up especially for these first two weeks. Oh yea.... I thought that I would weigh in today and the scale said 161 so that was sad news for me... maybe I will just tell myself it is all muscle right....LOL (I WISH) but thats okay ladies cuz we are all going to succeed ....right? I have faith in us and we definitely need to check in with eachother very frequently. If we keep up the communication, work together and keep up with support....I think we will do great..... WEll everyone GOOD LUCK...tommorow is our first day to start something GREAT>>>

I am the type to just wing it. I mean I have ideas of what I want to make. I buy a lot of ground beed and chicken and keep various marinades and veggies in the house. I am all about easy meals. Some weeks I try to meal plan. But I am so busy that most of the time it just does not happen.
Trust me - I will be checking in here frequently!!! I need the extra support and motivation to get me through this first two week. We can do it :!: |

I have three days planned. I can't really think past that and, because we are using so much fresh food, I don't think I could buy supplies past three days anyway.
Berylayn, my mother-in-law's name is Judy and she's an English teacher in a high school in Prince George or Prince William, some sort of Prince county....
Well, good luck with tomorrow everyone, I am going to have to get up early so I can cook some breakfast because I am so used to just leaving the house and eating something out of the vending machine at school.
I agree that if we all keep talking to each other and supporting each other it will help. It will be hard to quit if our new SB friends will wonder what happened to us :) .

Hey Melissa, good luck starting tomorrow!! I am a former SBer starting over and the first time I was on P1 I just could not excercise. As your body is detoxing in P1 you may start to feel weak and get headaches etc...some people get these feelings...not everyone. Anyways, before SB I was a avid excerciser and I had to stop because I felt like if I went out to excercise I'd completely faint. I still lost 10lbs. in P1 even without excercise, so take it easy and take things one step at a time. Get through this phase and as you get used to the beach you'll know when its time to step thing up a notch. :D |

Hi everyone...my name is Kimberly and I am starting sb for the second time. Jen I like the idea of having other people to talk to that are in the same exact phase and day as I am...great idea. I also have only 3-4 days of plans but pretty sure how I will succeed. Veggies already cut up, eggs boiled, onions and green pepper for omlet cut and ready. For dinner I am making grilled chicken w/olive oil and garlic, steamed broccli and cauliflower mashed "potatoes". Good luck everyone. Think small and take it one day at a time.
** I have lost 30lbs by not eating any fast food since November 3rd.**
I was eating it practically everyday if not twice a day. I still eat hamburgers and fries at a restaurant, just not fast food. Now it is time to start concentrating on eating healthier. |

Hello everyone! I am re-starting phase 1 after gaining 5 pounds on it last week! I was so discouraged after hubby announced that he had lost 5 pounds in his sleep last night, that I ate everything I should not have today. :? I was trying to ease "onto the beach" as I am very prone to severe migraines and was very wary of the artificial sweeteners. Now that I have discovered some good alternatives, I am ready to start for real this time.
BTW, I am a full-time mommy that suddenly found an extra 30 pounds hanging around my midsection after my oldest began school this year and I realized that I am not running around in the yard as much as I am running around in the car now! I've got to get ready for our 10th wedding anniversary trip next spring, so I am beginning with SBD and Pilates twice a week. Hope this week is much better than the first time I tried this out. :D
Good luck and happy eating to all!!! |
