I am restarting Phase 1 after getting sick(nasty Virus) and having to stop for a few days. I started only last monday so I am right with you guys.
I am from Birmingham AL
I am a stay at home mom to 4 cats! lol
My biggest weaknesses are Big Macs and Steak and Cheese Footlongs from Subway
***the 15lbs I lost were from increasing my water intake to 1 gallon an day and slowly phasing in SBD for 1 month!*** |

| I'm joining too!! I started yesterday. I need to lose 29 pounds. Yesterday went pretty well but last night the cravings started and I almost gave in! This morning the cravings are in full force but I am not giving in and I am getting ready to leave to go excercise. I will check in later. :) |

| My name is Christine and I too am starting SBD on 01/24. Have all my food ready and raring to go. My big problem is my family. My 3 kids won't eat a lot of the same foods that I do, nor my husband. Most of the kids all like different things which makes me have to cook a lot of different stuff at each meal to make everyone happy (or at least to not send them to bed hungry at night), so if I already do that and now I am fixing for myself, WHEW, I am going to be worn out at night, and I absolutely HATE cooking. We put in a new 33' swimming pool last year and hate the thought of looking like a beached whale on my raft again this year. I am 5'9" and weight about 195 pounds. I don't feel 195 pounds, nor do I look it (I still wear a size 12 jean), but the thought of weighing 195 weighs on my mind heavily (no pun intended). I too am going to need a lot of support as I work at home and do get bored and like to munch a lot. Maybe if we all really stick together tight we will all look a lot better by summer or that is what I am hoping for anyway. Exercise is not a big deal for me, between running after sport practices for all 3 kids and I try to walk at least 5 times a week about 3 miles with my husband, the only problem is that the windchill is below zero and that makes walking hard for everyone, even the 2 golden retrievers!!!They say it is not good to walk when it is that cold. I am in Southern Illinois and I think it is suppose to get up into the 50's this week and next so I am excited to get going. Thanks everyone!!!! :P |

Hi everyone,
My husband and I intended to start Phase I today, but because of the weekend snowstorm, we didn't have a chance to stock up on SBD-friendly food. Instead, we will start tomorrow.
I'm excited about the journey and am so happy that my husband has agreed to join me! We've both been on separate diets at the same time and it's been hard--basically we each ended up buying our own food and cooking our own meals. He's a bit extreme and has been doing Atkins on and off for over a year, but hasn't been all that successful. And he was willing to try Weight Watchers with me until he found how how many (or little, in his case) points he could have in a day. So here we are, South Beaching it together!
Look foward to following everyone's progress!

Well, it has been roughly five hours into my day. I have eaten breakfast and my snack and am about to fix my lunch.
I am so exicted that so many of you joined my thread. I was worried that no one would want to join. There are so many of you that I may not be able to keep track of everyone :D LOL.
I'll check back later.

[quote="JenHen"]I was reading through the posts and it looks like a few of us are starting South Beach tomorow (Monday). For those of us starting tomorrow I thought we could establish this thread. We'd be on the same day, going through the same things and we can share our experiences and keep each other on track.
I'm Jen, I am a law student in North Carolina and I eat at McDonald's practically every day. I guess that last part is going to have to end. LOL
Post if you're interested.

Hello,
cool it looks like a lot of us are starting today. Now I feel that I getting supported to something about this weight. Lets all encourage one another that's the only way to get really motivated. |

How is everyone's DAY 1 (or day 2 in my case) going? So far so good for me! Coffee, eggs, and turkey bacon for breakfast -- roasted chickpeas for a midmorning snack --- tuna and cucumber salad for lunch --- and I am relaxing after work with a cup of coffee right now. Planning to try and gym this evening but I am not sure that will happen. Hope everyone else is having a successful day 1.
Out of curiousity when does everyone plan to weigh in? I have trouble putting the scale away but I feel like i should for the next few days as my body adjusts. |

| Hope I can join your group. I lost 30 lbs. last spring on the beach and gained it all back. I have tried to get back on track for the past month and can't make it a whole day. I read your post this morning and it has given me the encouragement I need. I have wriiten every thing down today and it has been easy. I need to lose 60 to 75 lbs and need all the help I can get. I cook for a skinny husband that never gains weight and is a cookie monster also. I love reading your post. Good Luck to all. Trimwish |

| just found this website and wanted to be part of the group starting today, myself and my husband are both starting today with great gusto. We have 3 children under the age of 14 and both work full time so this will be quite a challange!!!! We spent all weekend shopping, and today has been fine for me so far, the only real challange has been not having my caffinated coffee! I haven't talked to my husband yet so let's hope he is doing well. If anyone wants to talk just e-mail me or post it here, I will try to check in a couple time a day. |

Checking in again....
I am a little obsessive about this site, anyway....
My day is going fine, I have a little bit of a headache so I think tomorrow I will take everyone's advice and add some beans to my day. I did have a glass of milk with lunch and I plan on having another with dinner.
Now on to my mini sucess story:
I am at Wake Forest law school. I'm not sure if it's because Wake is a private school (I went to a public undergrad) or if it's because it's a graduate school, but the school is constantly throwing food at us. Wednesdays and Thursdays you can always find a meeting that is serving Pizza or Subway for lunch. They welcomed us back after winter break with cake. There is usually some group in the hallway during lunch hour with a bowl of candy and bags of chips. You get the idea. Well, today I had to attend a mandatory meeting at 3pm. I walked into the room and what do I see?..donuts, Krispy Kreme donuts. Wake Forest is in Winston Salem, NC which happens to be the location of the Krispy Kreme headquarters..... I know, I know. Next to the donuts was a bowl of candy. As soon as I saw the donuts I said "That's just wrong." :( The guy in front of me gave me a look like "What's your problem?" :? Anyway I passed on the donut and the candy bowl (even when they started to pass the candy bowl around the classroom, groan). I left the meeting and came home where I just finished some celery stuffed with LCC. I am happy to report that the sweet, sugary and even jelly filled donuts did not beat me today. :D
To answer your question, berylayn, I don't plan on weighing in until next Monday. I figure I should give myself at least a week and I don't want to get discouraged because I didn't lose 10 pounds in 1 day LOL.
