I am starting SB and have tried Atkins. I could have stuck with atkins if my DH would have been suportive, But now we are both doing this. From what I understand I can't eat all I want till I'm full. But that is what made Atkins easy for me. I HATE being hungery. What can I do? And I don't want pork rinds. I asked a friend who has been on SB for a few years and she said she just fills up on pork rinds. Please let me know. I have scaned the book and can't find anything about this. Thank you!!! :D

Hi Maezy,
You shouldn't be hungry on SB, though your friend's approach isn't recommended. Pork rinds aren't SB friendly. It's about eating fresh, unprocessed foods as much as you can and filling up on real food. If you follow the guidelines of the menus, you'll see a good balance of protein, good carbs...vegetables, beans, milk and dairy, and a little fat. Eating the snacks helps keep blood sugar level and staves off hunger. If you are hungry, grab a serving of nuts, a cheese stick, veggies, fruit(in ph2) and some peanut butter,a ricotta dessert from the book, SF jello, etc. Some of the higher calorie foods like nuts and cheese can be a problem if you overdo though, so keep that in mind.
Browse some of the journals if you want an idea of what has been successful for people. I think you'll be surprised at how much you can eat and lose weight. GRACE

You really really need to read the book. You aren't at all ready to do SB. You don't have the first clue what it's about or how it's done. PORK RINDS? What diet allows that? Sorry to be so rude but I'm incredulous that you want to do this believing that 1)you can't eat till satisfied, 2)pork rinds are ok to fill up on, and 3)you only scanned the book. READ it, then you'll know what to do.

Ramona sweetie - please try to remember that this is a support forum. We are all in this together trying to make it the best we can. We come here for words of encouragement, not to get blasted out of the water for asking a question. (remembering... it was this kind of attitude toward others that made me stop posting before).

Yes--this is a support forum. It is meant to support in addition to what one has learned by reading the book and browsing through this forum. We see too many people here who haven't bothered to do a thing to learn and want us to give them a crash course on SBD. I have nearly 600 supportive postings under my belt, but this poster touched a nerve. Pork rinds? We say it all the time--read the book!

Maezy,

Definitely take the time to read the book, its going to be a huge help. Once you do that, skim over chapters you maybe have questions about, and then take advantage of the FAQs and stuff here. You'll want to educate yourself on all of this because its a lifestyle change, not just a diet. The book is designed to teach you not just HOW to do the diet, but WHY you are doing the things you are doing. If you don't understand the science behind it, you'll have less success and make it harder on yourself when it comes to learning what to eat and when.

Also, the links and stuff at the top of the forum have updated information based on things that have been researched more thoroughly (i.e. some of the rules on milk from the book changed if I recall correclty, etc) that may not be in the book as well as a lot of tips and such.

SB definitely isn't the pork rind diet! Its all about balancing blood sugar and eating a balanced meal to help reduce cravings for the things that make you fat (processed foods with tons of carbs and sugar and fat) and clean up your blood chemistry so you are healthier and lose weight.

I also want you to know that, some of the replies in this post are the exception to the rule here. I've found a wealth of help, motivation, and encouragement from the people here and I am sure you will too!
