The "New Forum Formats" thread prompted me to think of a question to ask....
How many P3 people DO we have on this forum???
I think it would be fun to take a little poll :D |

| I voted P3 even though I think of myself somewhere in between P2 and P3 and I am back more into P2 mode after the holidays, vacation and my most recent biz trip trying to get back into a more "normal" mode of operation. But after reading some of the other comments about no P3 board, I thought I would cast my vote in that direction as it does seem like there is some validity to having a P3 "space" as well. |

I agree with RedRox...technically I am in Phase 3 because I've reached my goal, but I tend to stay more in a Phase 2/Phase 3 mode. I wouldn't mind losing a few more pounds, but am not as strict as I used to be. It's still coming off, but very slowly. I think a Phase 3 section would be nice, then we could have a spot to share tips about maintenance.

Another vote for a P3 forum...I'm just a few pounds away, and my DH is there already. But I'm not sure I understand it at all! Seems like it will be a real balancing act between a little more freedom with choices and all those healthy eating habits we've been swearing by!
I still want advice and information, but have limited patience at this point to plow through all the P1 postings, as well as the "how do I slowly add the carbs back in" postings for P2!
Thanks for thinking of us! |

I'm in ph3, but I really eat in a high end ph2. Kimboroni's post got me thinking that since ph3 is such a mysterious sort of place, maybe it would be a good idea. Good for ph3ers and ph2 people would have a little heads-up on where they're going...that is, if we ever really figure it out.
My concern was loss of community, but suspect many of us will strive to keep that alive...hope so. GRACE |

| I'm in Phase 3. I definitely go back to Phase 2 occasionally when I see the scale start to creep or I feel like I've been to liberal with my diet. I might be at goal, but I'm far from figuring it all out. |

LOL! All you folks who are in P3 but mention spending some time in P2. Well, I think that IS phase 3 - phase 3 involves a lot of phase 2 meals for me as well. I think that's just how phase 3 is.
Now, going back to a "strict" phase 2 to get a few pounds back off or get things back under control or because you decided you want to try to lose more weight - that is one thing. I would consider that a return to Phase 2 since you are trying to get back to a goal weight.
But finding that a lot of the time in P3 you are actually eating P2 meals - I think that is very common and just part of P3.

audrey1,
I absolutely understand your point...even through your laughter. :) I just want to clarify my ph3 way of things. I eat only ph2 meals. I don't zig-zag back and forth between 2 and 3. ph 3 has been touted as the place where you can have that occasional "off the list" food, and I am not treating it that way. For me it's been adding in fruits and grains and a few more calories until I leveled off...no loss-no gain. So whatever number we give it, I'm maintaining. This isn't to say I'll never put anything from the "avoid" list in my mouth, I just haven't so far and have be steady at my weight for a few months. Make any sense? |

grace-e - yes.
Sometimes I think of phase 3 as really "a state of mind". If you think about it, that is a lot of it. Maintaining requires a very different mental outlook than watching the scale move down.
Definitely some folks in p3 still pretty much eat p2 meals - just more food. That's a pretty common approach.
For me - I simply "expanded" my foods allowed list. I decided no fruit or vegetable was off limits (except for those hi-GI white potatoes). But I still obey all the other guidelines (lean proteins, whole grains, lots of veggies, yadda yadda yadda) 90+% of the time.
