i started south beach phase 1 three days ago. i am 5'0 and 108 lbs although i really do not think i look it. anyways..i weighed in today because i can see that certain parts of my body are showing more like my collar bones. my scale weighs body fat also and a little over 4 days ago it was 29.7% and today it said 27.2% but my weight is exactly the same. why is this? and will the numbers ever drop? my goal weight is to be where i was before college which was 100.

anyways im still happy to be on south beach, and i was wondering what anyone thought about my situation.

Maybe you are retaining water? I don't know how those fat measuring scales work, so this is just a guess.

If you only have 8 pounds to lose, especially on a 5 foot body, don't expect it to come off immediately. I have around 30 to lose, and only lost 7 lb in P1, and from what I understand, the less you have to lose, the slower it is to go.

Hey dizzy, I also live in NY and am 5' (4 11 1/2" but who's counting?) I started at 105. I lost 4 pounds in P1 but put 2 of that back on the first week of P2. That's not uncommon. I lost one more shortly after then was stuck at 102 for nearly 3 months. The weight loss is really slow for people without much to lose, and especially for us shorties. I recently stepped up my exercise routine and have broken through the stall and am 101 right now. My goal is about 97. I feel great and have a lot more energy and have adopted this as my way of life, so I don't stress about the slow loss. It's happening. A patient attitude helps, so hang in there and know that everything you're going through is normal and part of the process. You may lose a few, or nothing in P1. The real diet is P2. Hang in there!
