I cannot recall if squash is an acceptable food on phase one? My fiance and I wanted to make some winter squash as a treat for me, but I wanted to make sure before doing anything. I do know that squash has a sweeter taste, and I am wondering if the same guidelines apply to it as they do pumpkin and sweet potatoes.

I'm not sure about winter squash, but I've been eating tons of spagetti squash. :D

Hey there. I'm trying to find the thread on this (I know there is one) and I'll post it if I can find it. But, seems to me I remember that winter squash is not allowed in phase 1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong??

And if you're unclear on which are summer and which are winter, my FAQ has a squash question that should help.

Also, most grocery stores have a little book in the produce section which has pictures and descriptions of the produce in the store. I cook a lot but I still have to check that little book every now and then. Most recently I checked to see if I could substitute green onions for scallions and that little book said I could. Check it out.

This book can be especially helpfull for some of us who's veggies in our diet have consisted of potatoes, potatoes and more potatoes....which would lead us to the question of what is radicchio anyway  .

that winter squash was a no no. It tastes too sweet for Phase One! ;( Oh well, we made the custard yesterday for the first time, and I LOVED it! It is really good for those looking for something sweet and yummy to eat! Plus, I finally found a way to get in more dairy rather than eating cheese.
