I have started the south beach diet as it was recommended by a person i work with. This wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I have tried everything to lose weight, going to the gym and eating less and have been at a standstill for almost 3 months (very disappointing). So, if I am doing this right, I have lost 6 pounds in 4 days.

I hope it keeps on. I have over 60 pounds to go to get within my ideal weight range. Ideally I would like to lose 80 pounds. Only time will tell.

I have heard great things about this forum and look forward to the support.

I passed up on the Timbits and truffles but I did have some Bacon this morning when I got to work. Not turkey bacon....real, fatty, salt laden bacon....

But after I ate it it made me think. Was that Bacon worth all my hard work and weight loss of the last 5 days. Not a chance. Plus, to be honest, it didn't taste that good. It tasted way too fatty and heavy in my stomach. Blah....

Learned my lesson I guess...

11 Pounds to go before March 10!!!! Yay!

:D Hi Everybody. I started Monday. I've lost everyday until this morning.
But that's okay because I was down a 1/4 inch in my waist. I've lost a total of 7 pounds these past 5 days. I like that! Today I didn't eat every two hours like I had been but I didn't feel the need to cheat. I can tell that things aren't bothering like I had expected. I really want to see this thru, and make it a way of life. I am unable to work out right now due to a recent back injury at work, but I told my husband if I can handle it I will try walking in place while I watch tv. It's something anyway. week 1 almost gone and nearly time to start week 2. I may add carbs in very slowly, I kind of like the way things are going.
Best wishes to all of you. We can do this!

I am however having a few other problems. One of thm is having to go to the bathroom every 20 seconds. Its really annoying! I am drinking crystal lite and water and they are going right through me!

Anyone else having these problems?

Coni,
I recently read what is happening to all of that water we are drinking: Apparently, if you haven't been drinking enough water your body has been retaining water in all kinds of places. The water (and crystal light) you are drinking isn't going straight through you, but rather, the water that has been carefully stored throughout your body is being flushed out. Your body is getting used to the idea that you will, indeed, drink enough water for your body to function and is flushing out the "survival water" it has been holding onto. Once your body is through flushing this water out you will stop having to go to the bathroom every 20 seconds :D . And you will have lost a few pounds of survival water weight to boot :!:

The first day of the rest of my life felt like a holiday! I cannot beleive how much I ate! This is nice since I've been such a spastic eater and definately not of the right foods! I just watched a very close frind drop 36.5 ibs since the end of august and find myself very motivated and lucky because she will be going back on the first phase with me! This message board and she will be great support for me!

Hey phase 1-ers!

Good news... the bathroom-itis goes away, lol. By day 5 mine had settled down, a lot. Someone wrote a great explanation in another of my threads about ketosis and urination, it was interesting.

I am bumping ahead to phase 2, for a few reasons. Mainly because I am sick of phase 1, lol, but also because I am nursing my 13 month old and she is a nursing machine so I'm giving myself a pass. :) I lost 4 pounds in the first 24 hours of phase one and then not another pound so I think I am ready for slow weight loss.

Anyway, hang in there... phase two feels like a buffet compared to phase 1!

Hi everyone. I've not yet made a full commitment to Phase 1 but will on 1/31. I've been weaning myself from coffee with caffeine and from 1/2 & 1/2. With everything else that goes on with this part of the diet caffeine withdrawal was not something I wanted to go through. I'm not sure what to use for my 1/2 & 1/2 though. Milk is just not the same. I've been mixing 1/2 & 1/2 with ff 1/2 & 1/2 to help with the cutting back. May have to quit coffee all together.

I have enjoyed reading the posts here and will continue to come back. This will be great help when I officially start my diet.

Thanks for being there and success (luck is so fickle) to all of you.

Carolyn
