I've just started phase 1 and I thought it'd be a BIG help to have one place to go to that's dedicated just to phase 1. I've e-mailed administration and requested a phase 1 forum and he said he'd consider it. So in the meantime, I wanted to start this thread for that purpose.
Come on in and be counted! Let's share our "ups and downs".....get questions answered....and give each other encouragement. Hopefully those who are past phase 1 will come in and help answer questions![/b] |

This will be nice having some other ones that are in phase one with us. I look foward to this :D |

Before I started SBD, I would usually have 1 or 2 cups of decaf coffee and I'd put Splenda and powdered creamer in it. Now I'm not sure what to use. It seems like skim milk has no flavor, you know?
Any ideas? |

:D Hi, I am new here as of today Jan. 17, 2005. Today is my 1st day to do sb. I like it! I have eaten all day long which is new. I am not a breakfast eater so that will take some getting used to, but I'm going to do it. I have a considerable amount to lose and nothing but time! I wish you all the best. I have tried lots of things in the past, and 2 months is my point of failure. I am hoping to change all of that this time. After all, all those other diets were just practice! LOL
Good Luck. :P |

| Hello, I am day 8 (Phase 1). I did bad during the weekend so I was strictly on the diet for 5 days. I did not loose any weight last week, don't know if I will feel any diferent at the end of this week either. I have read so many sucessful stories on this board, I was so motivated, excited and yet by day 5 I felt the same, fat and well the scales proved that went I went to weigh myself yesterday, see I didn't weigh myself when I started but it seems that I am at my heaviest, I was certainly not this heavy last time I weighted myself before xmas and back then I was out of control with my food. I am now questioning whether this will work for me too. I want it to work. So here I am haging still by a thread not wanting to go back to the old way of eating but I am must admit that I am very dissapointed in me and my results. Some people say that results will kick in this week (week 2) or even in Phase 2 (next week) but I am truly asking myself if I have enough determination to wait with no results. |

i re-started phase 1 because i re-gained about 5-7 lbs over the holidays and am in day 4 right now. i was afraid that it would be difficult, but i took advice from this forum and tried my best to stay on my diet while allowing some bad foods. it's just that i don't get the opportunity to eat ethnic foods or other special things (ie las vegas bellagio holiday buffet) so i gained a bit.
anyways, it's going well and i hope that it is for the rest of you!
also, on another note, i've started to exercise at the gym for the first time EVER. i always stayed away because i thought it was intimidating and i didn't want people to see me dying after 5 minutes on some machine that i didn't know how to use. but i've found that those stepping elliptical things (see i don't even know what they're called) are pretty easy to figure out and do, and i worked up quite a sweat. in addition, i did it easily for 40 minutes, something i would never have been able to do running. highly recommended! in 40 minutes i burn 330 calories and afterwards, i'm not tired and actually feel energized. in addition, i'm more motivated to stay on the diet. highly recommended!! |

Hi - My husband and I are on Day Eight of Phase 1 ... so far we've had different reactions that I would have ever predicted! In the first three days the cravings nearly killed me, but he didn't seem to have a problem ... I was STARVING and he said he wasn't hungry at all ... I would have expected it around the other way.
So far I have lost 5 lbs. and he has lost about 12 lbs. That means I have 34 lbs. to go and he has about 88 lbs. to go ...
Week 2 is starting slowly and although neither of us have cheated at all, I am really struggling with eggs in the morning all the time ... so thank goodness I discovered FF Plain Yoghurt and SF Davinci Syrup (Vanilla or Raspberry)!! Feeling a LOT better.
We have some trepidation about Phase 2, but will be easing into it very slowly, with one grain a day and one small fruit a day only for the first week and see how we feel ...
Good to have a thread to dedicate to Phase 1!!

| Hi everyone. My boyfriend and I are starting phase 1 tomorrow.....wish us luck. I have to say that the first thing I am going to miss is my morning glass of orange juice!! I am joining this message board because I think it will be helpful for me. I know SBD works because I started it over the summer, lost about 8 lbs in 10 days, then fell off the wagon when we had company( we live at the beach...evryone wants to visit in the summer) and never got back on. The big difference this time is I plan to increase my activity level. I am looking forward to being successful. :D |

| Tomorrow starts day 7 for me. I have a 17 month old son and I give him whole wheat toast and little pizzas made with whole wheat English muffins. I didn't eat a lot of bread before starting SB, but I am craving it now. This is torture. He gets yogurt mixed with fruit for breakfast too. It would be so much easier if I wasn't feeding him too. The salads are starting to irritate me. I ate a salad every day when I was pregnant and it didn't bother me, but I am so tired of salads every day. I can't wait for P2 just to add some variety. I don't feel hungry at all, which has suprised me. Not being allowed certain foods makes me want them more than I did eat them at will. One more week, just one more week. At least I can have my beloved fruit back. Sigh. |

| Phase 1 day 3 here....was hungry today..but then I think I had too small a lunch. Not to mention no milk or yogurt. The cravings are mild so far. I am sure that they will intensify. I actually had a dream that I was makin the kids some of my sweet corn muffins. In the dream I started eating the batter by big spoonfuls! lol I too am getting a lil tired of all of these salads. Gonna have to shake things up a bit and make some chicken/tuna salad and down it with the veggies. Now cooked veggies? Those I can eat tons of! I think the salads are super important, so maybe I just need to experiment a little. I was naughty today, had 3 cups of coffee. I need the 3! I used to drink a whole pot in a day, or more! Looking forward to Phase 2 when I can have my Brownberry whole wheat bread. Ya know, the one with the red and black on the wrapper...yummmmo! Oh! and some whole wheat pitas....mmm mmmm...ok my cravings are showing..I will hush now lol  |

Hi, everyone!
Lvs2rock, I am starting to feel the same way about salads. I love them and have been trying to add different things....but I'm afraid of getting bored. Does anyone else have any ideas? |

Whew. Day 2 of phase one and I feel like I'm dying! OK, maybe that was dramatic, lol. I was fine yesterday, no cravings or hunger, went to the gym and was fine.
Today, I wake up and for about 20 minutes I thought I had the flu. I felt like I was going to pass out, major shakes. I thought maybe it was a bad night of sleep (I have a co-sleeping nursing 13 month old who is teething) went downstairs and ate a spoonful of peanut butter and drank some tea. Not better at all. So... I cheated. It's day 2 and I already cheated! I had a small bowl of multigrain cereal and about 1/2 cup soymilk. I feel SOOOOO much better.
I wonder how I will do this. I think morning will be the worst.
Oh, and I'm new here. My name is Amy, I'm an apprentice midwife in Texas. I'm still losing baby fat at 144, my goal is 125-130.

Today is my 2nd day 2. I started originally on Tuesday, 1/4 and did well until I had to travel for a family emergency on Sunday, 1/9. Now I am back on day 2. I started @ 157 lbs. on 1/4 and am currently at 154.
I am doing well. No cravings and actually exercised yesterday!
I am setting a mini-goal of 140 by March 10th. I am going to Vegas in mid-March and want to fit into my favorite pants again. 8)

Well, today is Day 1 of Phase 1. The bad thing for me is that I gave blood this morning and, unfortunately, was VERY weak after so I had to have a couple of cookies and 4 oz of juice to get my blood sugar back up. Other than that I have nothing but good food.
I've done Phase I before but got sidetracked a couple weeks into Phase 2 so that's why I'm back to Phase 1.
As for the salads, I love them but can get bored pretty quick, and they don't seem to fill me up for a long period of time, maybe only an hour or so, even with meat in them. I've gone to frozen veggies. Like today, I brought frozen stir fry veggies, celery w/LC light cheese to spread on them and some frozen asparagus. I am having Trader Joe's Chicken Chili for lunch. Chili is great for me because it fills me up for a while, you know, all those beans  I'll usually have a salad w/dinner.
AmyM - If you're nursing you may want to just skip ahead to Phase 2. If you're doing a night feeding, you may want to munch on some veggies at that time to keep your strength up. Nursing takes a lot out of you and you need to make sure you replace the nurishment. Remember, you can eat as much as you want of veggies and lean meats. It's just the nuts, oils and dairy that you need to limit. Also, make sure that you're taking your vitamins still. And drink plenty of water. |
