Ok, so Ive read a lot of the threads on this board and I cant help but wonder if I should "intentionally cheat" during this 2nd week of P1 based on what has been said on some other threads.
Let me explain.
Week 1 and Im 4 pounds down, good but not stellar. I lost all of that in the begining of the week and despite going to the gym 5 times last week, and the scale didnt budge in the middle and later part of the week. I also figured out Im eating about 1,000 calories or slightly less a day on average and havent cheated so much as once. Im a vegetatrian so my options are limited and my calorie counts have been low since the main protein in my diet, tofu and soy products tend to be very low calorically.
Based on some other threads I wonder if I need to add some calories or good carbs in consideration of my workout schedule. I dont mean Ill chow down on a plate of pasta, but do you think a piece of fruit or the like would help?
Advice appreciated :) |

I don't know that much about all this but i heard from one person from this sit said that working out in the first phase you shouldn't work out because you don't have enought calories thats just what i read.
But keep up the good work |

| I have just two more days on P1, didn't exercise other than chase around my two munchkins & have lost five pounds so far. Admittedly, I ate way too much Indian food Saturday & a slice of pizza at a child's birthday party Sunday. Imagine if I hadn't cheated! Oh well, I'm chalking it up to experience & will start an exercise plan soon. Good Luck, friend! |

Well I dont want to NOT exercise, so should I increase my calories to offset it? |

With 20 total pounds to lose, you'd probably be just fine to be on p2. Then you can maintain your workout and get more calories.
Can you eat nuts? You didn't mention those, and they're a great way to get in some more calories with healthy fats. |

Hey Kim, thanks.
Yea I do, but Ive been careful about the quantity.
I havent really had any cravings past the first few days, other than an abstreacvt desire for pizza, but I think thats just in my NY blood!
I dont want to jump the gun here, Im really nervous about skipping a weeks worth of P1, maybe ill have some oatmeal for b-fast tommorow and see how it goes. |

Don't worry idnarb. You might not lose much more in Phase 1 because you don't have that much to lose in total. You could start adding in some good carbs for a pre-workout snack (peanut butter on whole wheat toast is my favorite pre-workout snack), and use that as your first step in Phase 2.
Seriously - one more week on P1 for you probably won't make any difference since the cravings are gone, so you might as well move on on P2.
Dr. Agatston recommends that people who are physically active and don't have much to lose just go ahead and start in Phase 2.
I had a strenuous workout regimen and myself and start in full-fledged P2 (with 2 fruits and 2 grains per day) and I lost weight just fine. Goal was to lose 16 pounds, I ended up losing 22.

I'd say 20 is probably the cut-off, but it's definitely a gray area with no set line. Really, anyone who wants to start in p2 can, and they'll still do just fine. It's just especially recommended for those with around 10-15 or less. |

I have been on Phase 1 for 14 days now, and have lost nothing according tot he scale. I have lost a few, because my pants feel better.
I did notice that I was drinking coffee with creamer that had sugar, so I stopped that and have not had coffee for 7 days.
Then my salad dressing had some sugar so I changed to another brand Bernstein Restaurant Italian dressing, which says no sugar.
Nuts well, perahps I have had to many of those...
I did find some Fat Free/Sugar Free Jello pudding, which I have had, very good.
but besides all of that, I can't understand why I haven't lost more weight. At least being able to see some results on that scale.
I was even thinking about staying on Phase 1 longer, any thoughts on how my prgress is doing.
thanks  |
