Weight Watchers With Flex Points Anyone??

I tried Weight Watchers years ago with the point system. My range was 18-23 and I would bank the points I didn't use for the end of the week for a cheat day. I would usually eat 10 extra points on that day. Now with the Flex Plan they seem to allow you more points. However, that scares me because I'm afraid I might gain eating all of those extra points! Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks!

You don't have any more points on Flex than you did on Winning Points or the previous rendition. If you had 18-23 before and you are at the same weight or there abouts, you would get 20 points per day and 35 flex points to use at your discretion through out the week. Check out www.dwlz.com for more detailed information.

For your range, you would now have 20 points per day + the 35 flex points per week, so in essence you do get 2 more points per day than previously. Also, you have more flexibility as to how and when you use your flex points (i.e. you could splurge and use them on one big meal).

I think Im going to start on WW starting tomorrow. I would be the 20 pts per day I think - I'm 145lbs. Then I have the 35 flex points per week so I can plan one big cheat day. I was on South Beach but I miss bread and fruit so I'm going to join WW. Did you guys join WW or are you just doing it on your own?

Why did you deprive yourself of fruits and grains after Phase 1? :?

I am still on Phase 1. I was waiting till I lost the weight I wanted to lose before moving on to Phase 2.

ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! Phase 1 is NOT the SB eating program! Phase 2 is!! You can't compare WW or any other diet plan with P1 of SB. Phase 1 is just for 2 weeks! Not until you meet goal. Phase 2 is for as long as it takes to meet your goals. P1 is not a sustainable eating program and it is not healthy and most people stall out on it fairly quickly anyway. No wonder it didn't work for you. You didn't do the real program and give it a chance to become a lifestyle way of eating. Good luck with WW!!!

Let me get this straight... you started SB, Phase 1 on September 20, 2004 and you're STILL on Phase 1? You are doing your overall health a GREAT disservice by not following the plan.

I can't really put it more bluntly or more true than redroxco did. No plan will work for you if you don't follow it. You can't make up your own rules and expect it to work.

Good luck with WW.

No, I havent' been on it since September. I was on and off for a month or so and then started around Christmas time. I was on it for about 3-4 weeks mainly trying to stick to Phase 1. I didn't add fruits or bread back thou. I would have some days when I cheated so that's why I never went to Phase 2. I appreciate the bluntness..... I really do like SouthBeach and want to stick to it.

Then do yourself a favor and do it right... it'll work for you. You can't take every little cheat as a reason/excuse to go back to Phase 1. That is a detox phase, only meant to last a short while. It's not a quick-fix phase.

The reason we get so grrrrrrrr about people staying on Phase 1 is many-fold... but for me, it's upsetting simply because it's not healthy to say on it longer than a short time and so many people go against the advice of both the book and the seasoned beachers here and make their own rules, staying on Phase 1 much longer than is both necessary and wise. Then those people fail and wonder why, cursing SB until the day they die from obesity. Just my two cents... maybe three.

I appreciate all your guys help. Your right, it is better to listen to you guys who have done it with success then from the book or what you personally think is right. Thanks :-)

Aja, I left WW after MANY years with them because the Flexpoints allowed me to eat more carbs than I can handle and I could no longer lose weight. Stick to SB P2 and control your portions. You will lose.

Puddingpop, please explain the arithmetic? 20 points per day + 35 Flexpoints = 5 more points per day on average. What do you mean by "2" more than usual? Are you using 2 of the Flexpoints per day and saving the other three for a special day?
