And I am a total newbie as far as the diet goes - I just bought the book yesterday. Anyway, my 11 yr old daughter (she'll be 11 in Feb anyway) wants to go on it with me. I'm not sure WHY she wants to - she's a little chubby but has never seemed concerned about her weight - I think she just wants to do it 'cause Mommy is.
Anyway, should she? If I skip phase 1 and go to 2, or maybe even 3 for her? Is there any reason kids shouldn't eat the way the diet recommends? |

Definitely not Phase 1 for her, but 2-3 is a very healthy way of eating for anyone.
What a nice start she would have for a healthy WOE (way of eating). |

I have my 13 yr old DD ( dear daughter) on the beach with me . It's been 5 mos. She has lost 31 lbs , I've lost 26.5!! 8) It is wonderful to do this together. If she really wants to ,she'll be successful .It is a healthy WOL. (way of life). It will teach her good eating habits, good food choices, & make her aware of what she is putting in her body.
It is fun to shop & cook together & she may keep you going strong on the beach too. This is your chance to shape her before the teen years. You'll both be healthier for it!! :D
Make sure she gets her milk ,yogurt ,cheeses in for those growing bones 8) . I've found lunches are hard as school lunches are not SBD friendly. My DD packs her lunch every day. She could have the school salad bar ,but she prefers to pack her own.
We've had a wonderful time on the beach, you will too!! |

| Hey, that is good to hear! I bought her some fat free yogurt this weekend to try and she actually likes it! She is adamant about it, so we'll see how she does. She takes a lunch to school too, so any tips in that regard would be welcome :) |

I tried to post yesterday, hit wrong key & it was gone! Sorry
My DD always packs her lunch. She packs: PB on one ww bread, carrots, sf jello, clemetines, she loves minute maid rasp drink takes it everyday :P .(10 cal, no sugar .) ham & cheese roll ups, string cheese, low carb wrap with lettuce ,meat & ff cheese, laughing cow light cheese on celery, pb on celery,a sm apple, sf pudding etc.
I have her try for protein & veggies, mostly she does a great job. 8) Once in a while she'll forget to pack it & runs out of time .Then it is what ever she can throw in a bag & go. All SB food in the house helps. . I'd start by packing it together until you feel she gets it. I pack my lunch & snacks the night b/4, she doesn't.
Some food she likes but won't take : hb eggs, "they smell too much", she tries to make her lunch look as normal as possible.
Depending on when your DD's lunch period is ,she may need a big breakfast, esp. if lunch is later in the day. And they usually don't get an AM snack either.
Good luck & have fun :) |
