| Ok, I'm a college student and find it hard to squeeze in breakfast. I also do not eat snacks during the day. Honestly, will I not lose weight if I do not eat snacks and 3 meals, but stick to the meals high in protein. I only want to lose 15 lbs. Also, please explain why the diet will not work if I do not eat so much food. |

| Eating regularly will help keep your metabolism going. I would suggest trying to eat all 3 meals and at least 2 snacks. Doesn't have to be much, just something to keep your system going. |

Also, you don't really need "high protein". That is more Atkins. You do need some protein, but it is most important to eat more veggies.
Not eating breakfast could be the worse mistake you make. |

By not eating enough food, the body thinks it's in starvation mode and starts holding onto fat. As Dr. A. explains in the book, the first line of defense is to save fat in the torso, specifically in the region of the internal organs for protection. In other words - in the GUT! If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. have you ever seen pictures of starving children in Africa and their poor skinny limbs supporting huge, distended bellies? And blood work done on people suffering from malnutrition show they have incredibly high levels of cholesterol.
So, to answer your question, yes, you must eat all the food - snacks, meals, veggies, etc. If you hope to lose weight successfully, that's the only way SB works. |

The snacks are really important to losing weight! Especially when meals are spaced far apart.
If you eat a good breakfast, and lunch is not that far from breakfast, then skipping the morning snack is probably OK. But the afternoon snack is essential - especially if lunch and dinner are 5-7 hours apart!
It may be hard to believe, but you manage your weight better by eating several small meals rather than just a few large ones. And skipping breakfast is just about the WORST weight loss tactic - there is a strong correlation between skipping breakfast and being overweight!

My BF is in college (graduating saturday!) and he usually takes a bag of cashews as his afternoon snack. And for breakfast, he usually makes an omlett the night before so he can just pop it in the microwave. I know SB during college isn't the easiest, but it can be done.
I got through college on mac n cheese, ramen noodles, and tons of Totino's Pizza's. I also left 30 pounds heavier than I started! lol... |
