Elsa,

I have heard that eating soy is supposed to help. I am not sure how much you would need to be effective, but it can be had in many forms from soy nuts to tofu. I didn't have much problem with hot flashes so mainly just ate some soy nuts most days.

There is also a type of creme that can be rubbed on the body that is supposed to help. I didn't use this, but if you're near a Vitamin World or GNC (they're usually both in malls) you could ask there. They are generally knowledgeable and have sources to check for specifics.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for your help Marilyn, I'll try the GNC store, the soy sounds good.
After getting sick as a side effect from a med. I'm not too eager to see a doctor,in my experience drs. prescribe freely and patients pay the price when side effects come up. Have a great day :) :)

Have you tried Black Cohosh? I am just coming out of memopause (51) and was miserable having hot flashes frequently. I have been using it consistantly for 3 weeks and the hot flashes are few and far between. It works for me.. I think the key is to keep taking it and not just take it off and on.. If I were you, check with your doctor and see if you can take it. There is much quite a bit of debate on whether it works or not, but it works for me. :D

Elsa: with your breast cancer history, you might want to avoid any soy-based products. I remember reading that, and a friend who had it told me her dr. told her to avoid soy, too. Black Cohosh root is a very good natural product, as well as Evening Primrose Oil. I switch back and forth so my body doesn't get used to either. I'm thinking it's time to up the dose since the hot flashes started up again, but all things considered, things aren't too bad. NO mood swings, thankfully. That's a blessing......

Elsa I have to agree with peacefulpath...stay away from soy it has a natural estrogen in it...not good for someone with a history of breast cancer...and by the way girls havent you herd its not hot flashes...just the inner child playing with matches!
