Today was day 3 on PI. I had 2 slices of veggie bacon, 1 egg and diet coke for breakfast. Then, for lunch I had a sort of taco salad--salad with taco meat on top and salsa and small amount of cheese. About 1 hour after I had eaten, all of a sudden I broke out into a cold sweat, my insides were weak, my hands were shaky and I had to sit down for awhile or I thought I was going to faint. This has never happened to me before--I am not diabetic and I'm not pregnant. Has this happened to any of you since startin SB? What happened??

The symptoms you described sound alot like hypoglycemia - low blood sugar. Try adding some of the "good" carbs for phase 1 on your salad - beans, peas, etc. The intent of the diet is to reduce spikes in your blood sugar that result from eating carbs that are quickly absorbed, not to cut out all carbs. You need some carbohydrates - just not the "off-limits" ones. If you continue having problems, have your blood glucose checked. It doesn't have to be a huge lab test, just a finger-stick and a glucometer - lots of pharmacies that take care of diabetics can do this, or if you know someone who is diabetic, they probably have a machine.

Good luck!

:D Hi, and welcome! The symptoms you described could be related to hypoglycemia, or, another thing to consider is dehydration. Are you drinking enough water? I had similar symptoms several years ago; turned out I was Very dehydrated. You should also consider having a fasting blood panel done. My glucose and potassium levels have been consistently low, and I have to watch out what I eat. At any rate, I would suggest seeing your doctor asap!

To me, it doesn't sound like anything you should be rushing to a doctor for. You didn't eat enough, plain and simple. You ate a tiny breakfast and then went until lunch without any more food. You need snacks to keep your blood sugar level and to keep from feeling the way you did. Maybe you can add in more carb rich protein like beans, they help me feel full. Water might help as well. I also get dizzy when I am dehydrated.

While a doctor's visit might be in order if you keep feeling this way, I don't believe in running to the doctor for every little thing, tis only my opinion though. Hope you feel better :)
