how exciting and so much more to lose!

when i started visiting this sbd forum i often looked for inspiration in this 'before-after pics secion' for proof that when there is a will there is a way... and that it is possible to lose as much weight as is necessary to reclaim our health.

so i've been on the sbd since february 2004 and have sweated away 65 lbs! i'm so darm proud of myself  but still have so much more to do to reach my goal.

anyway, i'd reached my first serious plateau since i'd started in february a few weeks ago. i thought i was going to loose my mind. it was so nightmarish to know for a fact that i was doing everything right and not loosing a single drop in weeks. i even gained back a pound! i have been strength training and cardios 3 times of week, making the most glorious progress, eating like a model health nut and charting my weight loss but nothing moved!

i was determined to find out how to get out of that rut and keep going. the pictures from the attached link show my before and 'half-way-there' pics. i had them taken to better visualize what my progress had been so far to realize that giving up was not even an option. a very helpful visitor to the exercise section of the forum suggested i have my body fat checked. i also re-took my measurements and visited the doc. what i found was that my body fat had certainly changed a whole lot during that period (compared to measurements from before the 'rut'), my waist and hips had also kept going down but i was accumulating lots of water. so i started logging my meals (www.gnc.com, free tracker!) and as the doc suggested, watched my sodium more carefully. sure enough, i was not paying attention to it. i cut down sodium while still watching out for carbs and fat and calories and proteins (no small feat  ) but it worked! in no time i am back to melting away. i also went out and got my first size 14 work pants. i am so happy! i can't believe i'd started as a real strangle-me-purple-size 22 W (250 lbs).

anyway, here i am (before and halfway pics) and sorry for the babbling  and thanks for listening and sharing!

WOW!!!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Congrats on the lose and the determination to get to your goal!! I know that you will do it.

I am, and was, pretty much in the same boat as you. I started at a size 22W and weighing in at 267. I have lose 37 pounds as of now and am buying 18s now. I am looking forward to the day that I have to buy a 14. That has got to be the greatest feeling.

Reading your post really has given me the push that I was looking for. Thank you so much for sharing that.

thanks guys for the encouragement!

anita, you are motivating me as well !

it does feel great to switch to a smaller size. i actually spent lunch time at lord and taylor (not that i can afford it  ) trying on expensive and gourgeous stuff in size 14! i can't explain the trill of shopping again in a 'normal' ladies section (not the 'plus' size section, or the 'womens' section or the .... well, you get the idea). i hated shopping in those 'special' stores/sections. and the best thing was that no one at the store gave me that 'you know very well you are not going to fit into anything here' look.

i love what i've done for myself and hope that will carry me thru all i still have to do and then keep the lbs off!

thanks again for the encouragement!!!

Thanks DollyofOz!!

I have to laugh at your post. It is so true when you go into those stores you get those kind of looks. I thought maybe it was just in my head. It's kind of comforting to know that it wasn't. Maybe I am a bit more sane than I originally thought.

AWWWW....Lord & Taylor. I do miss that store. I am going to do exactly what you are doing when I get down to a 14. Just to be able to prove to myself that I am not dreaming. I love trying on things, even if I know that I will not be able to buy them. It's still fun to do.

I'm so happy for you. It's great to see your success.

You look great!!! You're also building muscle, which weighs more than fat, which is important, and can affect what your scale says. I'm a fan of weight & measurements myself ;) Good luck!

Seeing your photos makes me wish I'd kept a pair of my jeans for comparison! At my highest weight I didn't have ANY jeans that fit (I simply refused to buy a size TWENTY EIGHT!). It's great to see your progress. Keep on Beachin' and keep us posted on your progress! Thanks for the inspiration!
