i tested my bgl's yesterday and after eating they were 68 ... i have researched normal levels and that seems a bit low for a post-meal reading. I am 21 years old and I have no former sugar problems, but I have been on the South Beach Diet for a week and am thinking this is the cause of such low levels. However, most foods including vegetables, etc have carbs in them and give the body glucose.... perhaps i didnt eat enough? Im not sure, and very new to this diet (the whole low-carb scene). Should I track my bgl's more? I am on phase I and am strictly following it. Is this diet not right for my body? Are my bgl's dipping to dangerous levels? I am very concerned... thanks for any advice

I wouldn't consider 68 to be dangerous, but can you give more info. How long after eating did you test? How are you feeling- generally, mild low sugar often makes one feel light-headed and a bit dizzy. Also, if you aren't diabetic, why are you testing sugars? I mean there's no real harm in it, but for the 'normal' person, the body does a pretty good job of regulating glucose levels. Is there some medical reason you are concerned?

Also wondering what you used to test yourself. Is it a device that is in regular use? Old strips? Out of calibration?
