 Hi, have any of you been on the SB diet while Hyperthyroid? (slowly levels are coming into normal range) The last time I was on the SB it helped me with sleeping at night and in general feeling better but I never made it to ps2 because by day 7 I was so hungry ALL the time I couldn't think of anything else (I wasn't craving sugar just carbs) and finally gave up.This time (about 2 years later) I want to be able to succeed, I really did feel much better and I won't be hyper forever (so they tell me!) but I need to start at PS1 to get off the sugar....Thanks
thyroid history....

I'm hyperthyroid because I have Graves' Disease. I'm in remission and hopefully will be for as long as possible.
But I don't understand, if you have hyperthyroidism, why even start a diet since your body's metabolism is going haywire to begin with?
My family physician suggestion I eat a 4000 calirie diet when I was hyperthyroid. I did and I still lost 15 lbs. It was an awful experience. You could see the bones on my upper chest I was so thin.
Honestly, I think you should wait until your thyroid levels are within normal range. When you're hyperthyroid, you're already burning way too many calories and it could be dangerous. |

Paco,
Thanks for your reply, I may be hyperthyroid but I'm not losing weight. I'm 5 feet 6 and weigh 145lbs. It is where my weight is going that concerns me (legs and abdomen) and I wanted to go on the beach to get control of my sugar/ carb eating. I know I need more calories than most people while I'm hyper but then want to get a handle on my eating. I want to be able to eat healthy but not starve. I don't know if you have noticed but you need/crave lots of carbs while hyperthyroid.
After I had radioactive iodine, I then of course became hypothyroid, which is why I gained weight. Now I just can't get rid of it (The weight) I do have to say that I remember when I was in my 20's and first became hyperthyroid I lost 14lbs in two weeks it was sooooo awful, I feel for you and hope you stay in remission. |
