Hi, I had an islet cell transplant a year ago and have had lots of problems regulating my blood sugar. I have had multiple episodes of hypoglycemia and seizures along with it. My doc wants me to try the south beach diet to see if the good carb vs. bad carbs will help. Is this a good way to help regulate my sugar?

Hi dynaajo,

Welcome to the South Beach Diet.

Sorry that no one responded to your post until now.

I am a type 2 diabetic, diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago. It took me this long to get through the denial and start taking better care of myself.

I don't know enough about type 1 diabetes to answer your question. But I would like for you to join our diabetic thread (Diabetics on the Beach). Maybe we can learn from each other. Although most diabetics are type 2, there are some diabetics type 1 on this forum. I hope that our thread will help you get together. If that doesn't work, we can create a separate thread just for type 1 diabetics.

Please keep us updated with your condition. I hope that the South Beach Diet does help your regulate your blood glucose levels. It sounds as if you have been having a really rough time of it.

Best of luck with your islet cell transplant. Again, welcome to the SBD.
