Artificial sweeteners?

Hi everyone,

My question is:

What are the possible problems with artificial sweeteners? I know they affect people differently, but what about long term use? Just a mild concern? I know in moderation it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks to all that reply,

Bob

Dr. A states there are no studies linking the sweetners to negative health issues. He preferes Splenda (made from sugar), as do I. Splenda does not have the bitter after taste of the others. I read yesterday that Coke will be switching from Aspartame to Splenda.

Another supposed advantage of Splenda (sucralose) is that it maintains it's properties when heated and can therefore be used more easily for cooking/baking.
