I know this isn't a pleasant topic, but has anyone experienced green stools? Someone told me that it's the toxins being flushed from the body. Does anyone know if this is true? Please advise. Thanks.

It can be what is called a liver or gall bladder dump, could also just be from eating lots of green veggies.

I guess it must be from the veggies, because I no longer have a gallbladder.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Sorry, but that is what it is called. You think that is bad, what about a cecum dump? Won't even tell you what that one is about...
It is called a gall bladder dump because something, perhaps eating a lot of good fat, causes the gall bladder to purge itself, getting rid of old bile that it stores from the liver (that is part of the gall bladder's job), bile is green.
I could tell you bile stories from when my DH had stomach surgery 20 years ago that would make your liver quiver...
OOOOO, making me queezy...

| I also thought it meant that the waste had made a rapid transit through the body, which is a good thing. |

Thanks for bringing this up, Rusti...I was too embarrassed to ask, but am happy (?) to report that I am experiencing the very same phenomenon. Actually, to be more accurate, my stools vary from green to black...very bizarre!
Furthermore, since you brought up the subject, I will confess that in the 10 days I've been on SB, I've had the most incredibly painful BM's of my life (like depositing green alien children through an exit they are too small for, thus the hemerroid issue I'm now contending with).
Now that I've already passed the point of no return & I can't get much more graphic, can I ask whether anyone is experiencing...(how to put this delicately)...SKUNK BUTT? I've never had gas like this in my life!? I'd love reassurance that I'm not alone in this!
Thus, on day 10 of P1, my period is 1 week late, my stools are large, painful and green. I have a hideous, gasious stench, hemerroids, and, best of all, I haven't lost a single pound, but I'm not giving up! |

ROFL from Travelbug's post!
Trust me, you are not alone. I never thought of calling it Skunk Butt, though! Too funny. Actually, I was having really bad SBDs before the SBDiet, and thought it had cured it...as soon as I thought that, the sulfur farts started again. My best guess is that it's from all the eggs. But I have always had a temperamental digestive system anyway, so maybe it's just me. I was more worried about constipation, so I'm just happy that I can go. Even if it is green. (I figured that was from all the veggies, too.)
Sorry if that's TMI...my mom was a nurse, so I tend to be open about bodily functions. Perhaps TOO open. |

OMG... I have laughed at many a posts on these boards but this is the first one that brought tears to my eyes...
I am so thankful that someone had the guts to say it. I was also wanting to know if anyone else has experienced the "skunk butt" as Travelbug put it. Mine has been off and on since starting SBD but this weekend was horrible. I'm not sure it is from eggs because I have hardly been eating eggs lately. The first 3 weeks of SBD I ate them everyday and did not experience this. The only thing new I added this weekend was the Kashi Go Lean. So I don't know what it is but my husband might kick me out of bed soon. |

also LMAOOOO here!! Travelbug, you have such a way with words...lol
In nine months on the beach I've run the gamut in regard to bowel functions. I've never really been contsipated, but have had days that I've dealt with Pepe' le Pew butt myself. More troublesome to me though are those salad shooter days... where every veggie you eat goes right through you.. and with force. Too much roughage and fiber is not a good thing?? I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs (so to speak) of this diet.

I have read some amusing things on this board but Travelbug's had me laughing so hard that I couldn't see the words until I wiped my eyes!
Not experiencing anything even remotely close to that so there is no way I can give up! |

| I think the gas you all may be experiencing is from lactose intolerance (the ricotta cremes, the cheese sticks, cottage cheese, etc.). I've been anticipating a problem, and therefore taking 2 lactaids before each dairy meal. The eggs haven't been causing any problems for me. I'm beginning my 2nd week of Phase 1 tomorrow and have lost 6 pounds! Hope this helps! |

Funny, funny . . .
When I started SBD, I began eating many foods foreign to my body up to that point - like veggies and beans. So, for the first few weeks of the diet my body seemed to over-react this way. But, now that I've been on it awhile, I'm happy to say that my body has adjusted and I no longer have a problem with Skunk Butt. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I never will again! |
