| Hi - My husband & I started the diet yesterday. I want to lose 10-15 lbs but my husband doesn't need to lose any. He does, however, have a cholesterol level of 260! We eat pretty well and he works out 3x per week - his cholesterol is very genetic. So, my question is: should my husband even do Phase 1?! I don't want him to wither away! Or will Phase 1 work to eliminate cravings and if he doesn't need to lose weight, he won't? Thanks. |

| Dr A just did a Q&A for USA Today, and he said that if you don't have much weight to lose, you should start on p2. Both of you should start on p2, and you should benefit greatly. It's a wonderful way of eating! |

Hi. I'm seriously considering the S.B. diet. But I wonder if I should skip Phase 1.
I'm 5'1 and 105 lbs, size 6 (down from 120/size 10, due to exercise-Pilates and walking, IBS, and extreme stress that is now getting better) and don't need to loose weight. But I do have to be careful as it is easy for my weight to flucuate up to much (at 115 I'm in a size 10) and it tends to be abdominal. I don't know what my cholesterol is at the moment, but I assume it's higher than it should be, being I'm in surgical menopause. I'm hypoglycemic and don't want to completely give up sugar, just cut WAY back on it (one reasonable portion of desert a day + fruit, but no sugary drinks, white pasta or bread). Should I skip Phase 1 or only do Phase 1 for a week? Or should I do Phase 1 and add enough calories to not loose wieght? Or should I go straight to Phase 2 or 3? I do have really serious sugar and carb cravings that are hard to manage.
My hubby is 6'1 and 235 lbs. (Down from 250, with a way to go to 200.) BUT he has kidney stones. I wonder if the Phase 1 would be harmful for him?
We have friends on a Suzanne Summers diet (which I don't trust) that are doing great. But they don't EVER eat bannanas, ANY whole grain pasta, etc..(for MONTHS they've been doing this.) My husband likes a bannana a day (Prevention said it's good to prevent high BP, and 2 a day to help lower it-which worked for my MIL) and we both like watermellon and pineapple. I also don't want to give up popcorn. Can we still have these?
I have the book but I'm new to this. Sorry to be so long winded, I appreciate your help. |
