The pee that lasted a thousand years...

Hey -

Anyone peeing copiously and/or frequently during P1? I'm cracking up at how much I'm peeing. And it's not the water -- I have always drunk a ton of water (my favorite drink, I panic if I forget my water bottle).

By the way, I hope I'm not bringing up some old topic that has already been discussed to death. I did a search and it just pulled up a bunch of journal entries, and I didn't really see anything there. Please forgive if I'm talking old news.

Frequent urination seems to be a symptom of ketosis. Try upping your carb intake, especially from more carb-dense sources like beans and dairy (real, not that low carb stuff), and that may help.

I'm in Phase II and because I exercise in the AM, I drink between 50-60 oz of water before noon. As a result, of course, I'm running off to pee frequently. Also, because I drink ice water and not room temp water.

In Phase I, yes... I did pee a lot not so much from water intake but from losing water weight. I was not in ketosis. See if you level off after your detox period. If your urine is clear and there is no funky odor to it, you're probably fine.

Thanks, guys! There's no stinkyness going on, and I do think I'm eating plenty of good, whole carbs. If anything, I may be eating too little protein (not for general human consumption, but for the purpose of this diet). It's *really* good to be reminded of ketosis, though. I had forgotten to watch for that. Perhaps it is just water weight/detox. I would prefer to be losing fat... The whole "detox" thing sounds good, though; makes me feel like I'm at an expensive spa tucked away in the mountains instead of baking in triple digit heat in California.

Interesting... Cold water makes you go more than room temp. water? I wonder why?

caterpillar, your body will retain room temp to warm water, for some reason. If you drink ice water, your body will burn the calories just warming it up to process. Can't say why it goes thru you faster. Maybe it's attached to the difference in the way your body treats the cold versus the warm.

Don't forget--if you're eating more veggies than before, veggies have lotsa water. :)

Well I pee ALL the time, and even more in P1. I think I went once a hour!!! Was a pain in the butt!

Doctor has tested me before SB to see why, im serious when I say this, I can go 2 hours without drinking anything or peeing and the minute I drink ANY amount of water (room temp only) it is OUT of me within 30 minutes...I even wake up 2 times during my sleep to go. Apparently there is nothing wrong with me. So I guess you can imagine how much I was going with all this water I have been drinking on the diet.
