Just curious how many others are on medication currently for hypertension and if you feel that affects you in anyway with this way of eating. I find that with upping my water intake I may be going to the bathroom even more because of my medication. I also hope that if I lose enough weight I can get off my meds, at the age of 25 it scares me to think I'll take it forever. But it runs in my family.

Hi! Great subject for a post.

I've been taking 2 meds for HBP for about a year now, Covera HS and HCZT (water pill). I started SB 6-1-04 with the primary "goal" of getting off BP meds. See my signature for progress on SB.

I went to the dr. last Wed. and my BP was 115/80, which was a dramatic improvement. The dr. said if I keep on losing weight and exercising as I have been (I walk 2 miles about 5 days a week), on my next dr. visit we should be able to cut back on one med to see how that goes. Eventual goal is to be off both of them.

I feel SO MUCH better physically, mentally, and emotionally since I started this way of eating and began exercising again. And YES, I am going to the bathroom a lot more but it is worth it to me. I don't mind it one bit! I try to drink the majority of my fluids before 6 p.m. so I have time to empty out before bedtime. Usually I have to get up once in the middle of the night.

My BP is down to 112/66 since losing 14 lbs and I have reduced the medication from two pills per day to one.
