the only diet that i've really tried besides reduced calorie intake/more exercise is SLIM FAST. i had a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch, and a small cup of brown rice with some kind of meat for dinner for about a month. and that was the end of that. i did lose about 10lbs but i was so sick of the shakes. i felt like if i ate just one more, i would puke my entire gut out! the weight did stay off, but it was not a good experience at all. south beach is the way to go folks!

I've done - Jenny Craig, WW, Atkins and now SB. I think I tried Slim Fast but it lasted no longer than the first shake...they were horrible to me.

I haven't done that many, but it's kind of sad looking back and realizing that I've been obsessed with my weight for so long. I think it started when I was about 12 or so...

Slim Fast
Low Fat (years and years, on and off)
Carlorie Counting
Eating disorders (not a diet, grant you, but part of my weight loss efforts...Happily over that)
Every pill in the book
That stupid cabbage soup diet
Low Carbing

I have tried (unsuccessfully):-

Weight Watchers (Actually lost some weight but became so expensive), Starvation (I was young and obviously dumb I did loose weight but got one drunk one night; ate and haven't looked back), Atkins (could not stomach the fat anymore), Montignac (Not quite sure what happend there, I felt good but I don't think I lost anyweight), Liquid dieting (quick fix but i couldn't handle the hunger pains) and now I am looking at SB - will keep you post it, haven't actually started yet.

Liquid Protein Diet (remember that?... back in the 70's??) lost around 30 pounds and haven't been able to eat or drink anything cherry flavored ever since.

Weight Watchers: it works, but way too much will power needed when one has the tendancy to spend all their points on carby processed junk.

Low Fat: It also works, but again, the will power needed to sustain this WOE is phenominal, once you understand that eating plain baked potatoes and rice cakes is only defeating your purpose, hunger-wise.

I did WW's way back when it was required to eat liver once a week, ugh that was horrible for me.

Then I did the "Cabbage Soup" diet which worked great for me I went from 166 to 129 in 4 months but then a move to my present address made me very depressed and I gained it all back plus.

Then later I tried WW's again, I lost 30 pounds but after a year of staying on it, I did not lose anymore. So I gained the 30 pounds plus back.

Since May 2004 on SB diet I've lost 71 pounds. I finally found a program that works for me. I know this time is different, I'm older and wiser and I know that it's choices I make that will affect my health and lifestyle. With other diets I felt denied but not with SB diet. It's all about taking control.

Personally, I feel that whatever diet works for you then you should stick with it, but I've had many people ask me about SB diet and from my transformation, many are going to try SB. It will only work for them if they make the right choices while doing SB.
