I am on day 2, and I had a headache most of yesterday afternoon, and already have one this morning. Anyone know why I would. I didn't have my daily coffee yesterday, is it ok to have it? Afraid of the caffeine.
Also another ??? Is it true you are not supposed to have ff milk until phase 2? Only can have unflavored yogurt on phase 1 also, right? Then on phase 2 can have the milk and low fat flavored yogurt - is this correct? Does it need to be sugar free? Feeling a bit out of it, hope this all ends in a couple of days. :? :?: |

I also had headaches the first few days on SBD. It is the withdrawal of caffeine and sugars.
Hang in there...they should subside within a couple of days.
GOOD LUCK |

Hi,
I am on day 3 and I have had a headache since last night. I hate headaches. I don't drink caffeinated stuff so I guess it is the sugar. I don't know what to do about it.

| Yeah...quitting caffeine is notorious for causing headaches. This should go away in short order. If it's really bothering you, wean yourself off of it slowly; that might help ease the "withdrawal". |

| I had headaches a bit last week (I'm on day 9 now), and I found that more water, more sleep, and more beans made them go right away. Also, for the first few days I allowed myself one caffeinated beverage per day, and eased myself off of the caffeine, rather than cutting it out completely. Seemed to help. Good luck, and stick with it. It gets better. |

I used to get headaches very badly prior to SB. I'm now on week 4 (I think) of Phase II. I don't get them often and they're no longer food related. I used to get sugar-related headaches (which I now know). Now, the only headaches I get are either tension related or weather related (due to changes in the pressure system like when a storm hits).
Try to figure out if your headaches can possibly be related to something other than your diet. Chart them if you need to.
As for Phase I people, it's almost over... in retrospect, you'll be so grateful for having done that 2 week stint. 8) |

| I'm just now starting SB, but I've had frequent headaches all my life. A few years ago, I discovered something that usually helps--sex! Sounds weird, huh? Don't know if it'll work for everyone, but hey, I'm happy and headache-free! Well, not headache-free, but they aren't such an unpleasant thing anymore. |

| deano: good reason for that one.......when one reaches the um, pinnacle of excitement, endorphins are released, thereby relieving whatever pain you may be suffering from at that time. Great for horrible menstrual cramps, too! |

| I also got them alot in the first 2 weeks, But it is much better now, I have to drink something with caffeene every day. I usually drink a couple diet pepsi's everyday. I was out yesterday, only diet sprite, So I had my afternoon headache... 3 excedrine migrane and it was all better... I am having coffee this morning... I know we are supposed to limit the caffeene to like one serving a day, but for me I need a little more... I really do not like to get headaches... I had to find a happy medium!! :D |

I have had moderate to bad headaches for the last 10 years. The real bad ones are cluster headaches, (male version of migrane?) If I feel them coming on, 2 acetaminophen (tylenol) and a strong caffeine drink such as espresso can stop the headache as it is developing. I even carry a few espresso coffee beans in my briefcase just case I feel a headache coming on and cannot a caffeine drink. (Chewing espresso beans is a developed taste! As for SBD, I count them the same as nuts.)
As to SBD and headaches, I have not noticed any change in the frequency or the strength of my headaches. |

Bob: not surprising you find relief from espresso beans. Some migraine medications DO contain caffeine (Cafergot for one). And Excedrin's "secret ingredient" is caffeine. Because caffeine expands the blood vessels (and migraine/cluster headaches are caused by constricted blood vessels), it stands to reason that relief would be found in consuming caffeine.
See, it's not all that bad for us after all......... :P
