Hello:
I am new here but have been on the diet for about a week. So far so good and I have not cheated yet. The book was a little confusing regarding fiber intake. I almost bought some Metamucil but looked on the back and saw that each spoonful contained about 10 grams of carbs. Should I be taking any type of Fiber supplement in phase one? Just worried that that is too many carbs at once. Thank you.

I'm pretry sure metamucil is okay for phase I. I take a teaspoon with 8 ounces of water three times a day. I have never had a craving problem after metamucil. In fact, it makes you feel more full, and less hungry. My advice is to not worry about the 10 carbs.

SF metamucil is the way to go in Phase I. I'm to my 3rd week in Phase II and really don't use it anymore. Now that I've added beans to the equation, I feel my fiber intake is just about right.

Remember that SB is not a low or no carb diet, but a good carb diet. Fiber is a carbohydrate, and so is sugar. Fiber is always a good carb, and some sugars are good carbs, even on p1, like the lactose in milk and the fructose in tomatoes. Some sugars are bad carbs, like in donuts.

If you get the sugar-free Metamucil, then the carbs are all fiber carbs.
