Hi everyone
i was just wondering if anyone had done the greenlane diet (a diet that hospitals give to overweight for patience under going heart surgery.) If you have, did you keep the weight off? I did it about a year ago and lost 20lb in a month but gained the weight 15lb back after going on a holiday (that consisted of all you can eat buffets 24/7 for a month!!!).
I'm contemplating on going back on it and would love some inspiration  ! (or reasons to not go back on it)
thanks heaps!

Hi Cathie,
I too am interested in the Greenlane diet. My sister gave me the diet sheet today and I am going to try it.
I have searched the web for information on it and it seems that people think it's a fad diet and you will only loose water.
I am hoping to combine the diet with some sensible eating on days 4-7 and hope that I can loose this dreaded 30lb.
When you did the GL diet last time, did you loose fat/flab?
Can you remember if you lost the 10lb every 3 days like it promises?

Hi,
Like Maree I am also keen to know what the Greenlane diet consists of. I have not been able to get it anywhere. If you have a copy and are able to email it to me it would be much appreciated!
Thanks very much!

The information for this diet was easily obtained using a Google Search.
Quote: The Greenlane diet (also known as the British Heart Foundation Diet) is a poor fad diet that has been circulating for many years. Please note that the British Heart Foundation has nothing to do with this diet whatsoever.
The diet has circulated in the form of a one page sheet that claims you can lose 10 pounds in 3 days. The diet has been popular in the UK - but it's exact origins are unknown.
Quote: This diet is not recommended
Breakfast
5 'snax' biscuits (dry crackers)
1 slice of cheddar cheese
1 small apple
Lunch
1 boiled egg
1 slice of dry toast
Dinner
1 cup of tuna
1 cup of beetroot
1 cup of cauliflower
1/2 melon
1/2 cup of diet vanilla ice-cream
Drinks
Black coffee/tea/water
I would stay well away from this, it is poorly balanced and is effectively one of those "starvation" diets. |

Isn't 115lb a bit low for your goal weight?
At 5'6", the same height as me, 125-135 seems to be a more normal weight. 115 is only slightly within the healthy BMI range.

Hi
The Greenlane Diet does work, I lost 12 KG while I was on it (and looked awesome in my bikini on the beach when we were on holiday in OZ) but it has definately slowed down my metabolism and I have put back on the 12 kg that I lost and I'm now finding it really hard to lose weight. So the longterm effects of the diet really out weigh the benefits.
I would personally not advise anyone to do it. |
