I know they say that with the low-carb diets that your breath can smell bad, but has anyone noticed an unpleasant difference in anything else (i.e. body odor of all types)? I am so embarrassed to ask this question, but I thought I'd start here, since all of you are on the diet, like I am.
Thanks! |

There was a thread about general B.O. a while ago. I'll try to find it-- just know for now that you aren't alone.
In general, bad smells occur on SB when people are trying to (over)limit their carbs. In SB, we don't limit carbs by counting them, but by choosing only the best ones. You might try increasing your carbs from veggies, beans, and dairy (I'm assuming you're in p1).
Oh yeah-- if it's smelly pee you're experiencing, that's from the asparagus. Some vitamins do that, too.
Okay, my 2nd edit. I found that thread:

I don't know if this helps at all. |

| Thanks, Kimboroni, for that information. It was quite helpful and I even went a step further and posted my question there with a little more detail. I appreciate both of your responses. |

| You may be overdoing the protein. In that other thread, you mentioned that you eat "some veggies." If that's your true impression of your veggie intake, then you probably aren't eating enough. Try cutting back on protein sources (just one protein source per meal, about the size of your palm) and increasing your veggies. That might help. You can also try eating grains every day rather than occasionally. Your fruit sounds good. |

Kimboroni -
You may be right...I do try to eat a large serving of broccoli or spinach at dinner, then a smaller serving at lunch, but that's really all the veggies I eat. I'll try increasing that and a little more in the carbs dept. Perhaps some whole wheat pasta and zucchini & squash with a creamy tomato sauce (highly recommend this...use Classico Spicy Red Tomato and a spoonful or 2 of Classico Alfredo sauce).
Thanks for the advice! I will try increasing water, veggie and complex carb intake. |

Hi wildhoney,
You don't say whether you are married or not, and I hope you don't take offense at this, but is there any chance you could have a sexually transmitted infection? Because there are a few that produce extemely stinky (and embarrassing) odours...
Also, it could be some kind of infection, easily treated but not something you should delay seeing a dr about. Do you have any other symptoms? Pain, discomfort, discharge, swelling, itching?
If I were you, I would see a dr about it - it MAY be the diet, but it might not. Better safe than sorry when it comes to health - especially "personal" health
Good luck
:) |
