Are diet cokes allowed in Phase 1?
My diet vanilla coke is the only thing that makes me happy in the afternoon...the sweetness replaces any thoughts of a dessert. |

I live on diet soda and my weight loss has been great. I'm not saying everyone should drink it, its more of a judgement call.

| Hi, I am new here and haven't even started yet. I am trying to gather information but I wanted you to know about Diet Rite. It is caffeine and sodium free and is made with Splenda (so it doesn't contain aspartame). I have found the cola and red raspberry to be better than any other soda I've had. Just wanted to pass along that info. 8) |

| We thought the issue regarding diet sodas was the caffeine in them, which can increase your insulin production. Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

Yes, the issue is with caffiene. But Dr. A says you can have 1-2 servings of caffienated beverages per day (coffee/soda).
Beth, I used to drink DietRite ages ago - I'll have to keep an eye out for them. |

| Caffeine free Diet Coke is awesome. Although the taste is a bit different from the leaded version, it does allow you to have your soda without the disadvantages of caffeine. After a week of drinking it, you will think regular Diet Coke tastes too sweet. Try it! |

| The way I understand in the book... Diet Coke, like coffee is one of those things you shouldn't necessarily 'give up' for the diet, just because their possible effects on your weight loss do not outweigh the fact that it makes you happy to drink it. |
