hi all!
wanted to pass this along. didnt do a great job of meal planning this week and then had to run errands before supper too. what to do in a hurry??
1 jar bush's sauerkraut, 1 package butterball (best flavor-not too fatty) lean turkey sausage (like kielbasa) slice sausage, add to skillet, pepper or hot sauce if you so indulge and supper in 10 minutes and damn it was good!
nice change of pace, too!
yummy! |

I was so happy to have a change in the diet from chicken and fish.
I used your Idea, but I browned the meat well first, then added the drained sauerkraut and a few caraway seeds and covered it, and let it simmer a few minutes, stirring a few times. all the brown from the meat and the caraway seeds flavored the kraut .
Thanks so much for the Idea! |

If you have not tried mixing turkey and sauerkraut, it is heavenly. I can't get enough leftover turkey at Thanksgiving. Just fry some leftover turkey in olive oil until hot, dump the whole bag (or can) of sauerkraut into the pan. Heat and serve.
I think if you had some turkey lunchmeat you could spread some cream cheese and sprinkle with sauerkraut before rolling up. Would be good with corn beef too. Can we have corn beef lunchmeat? |

I don't like sauerkraut very much, but this sounds like a really good idea.
Thanks! :) |

| My family is Polish and my uncle makes the BEST kraut! He puts all kinds of stuff in it! So, here's a tip: Put the kraut in a pot with a little water to simmer.... throw in a little Splenda (He'd use sugar) and put a lid on it and let it simmer for like 45 minutes! (Add more water throughout the cooking process if it sticks.) It's a great flavor! He would also add bacon, onions and sausage. Be creative! I've already had kraut and sausage on the SBD and my husband even ate it with me and liked it! A good way to only fix one meal (and not another meal for the non-beachers in your family). |
