I know there was a post about this recently but i couldn't find it. only lately have i noticed a large increase in bruising on my body. i don't even know how i got them. currently i have a HUGE one on the back of my arm and i have no clue how it got there and two more on my forearm. also one on my leg. anyway, my point is, has anyone else experienced this or know what the cause is. i think burdle? said it could be a vitamin defiency. i also don't know if the bruises just appeared or if i may have bumped myself lightly and not have even noticed. if anyone can help, please reply. thanks!

This happened to me too. I have several bruises on my knees and upper legs, and I think I have a bit of vitamin definciency from phase 1. I could have bruised myself from exercising as well, however, I don't bruise from bike riding and I've noticed bruises along my knees after starting the diet. It's all good though; I think you should just take some vitamin supplements. I can't say from experiance, but I noticed I stopped "bruising" a little after I added back fruits.

Some of the new Crystal Light drinks have 100%Vit. C. I like CL sunrise. It has a pleasant orange juice kind of flavor.

:D Hey! I just found a vitamin C supplement that actually works! I"ve always taken vitamin C a couple of times a day, but still experienced the bruising. I guess ya get what ya pay for. I got this new brand called Ultra C-400 by Megafood at the health food store. It contains vitamin C-400 mg, Amino acids-450 mg, and bioflavinoids-160 mg. No more bruising! I even fell in the bath a few days ago, which would ordinarily have produced a HUGE bruise, but........ nothing ! Amino acids are essential proteins, and the bioflavinoids are like the white part of an orange that we usually throw away. This really works!

You may already know this, but taking aspirin (e.g. for heart attack prevention) and taking extra vitamin E can also cause you to bruise, as they thin the blood.

:D Thanks, Steph. I knew about the aspirin, but the vitamin E was news to me. Anyway, I went to see my Dr. today, and I told her about this type of C. She was really impressed, and asked me what the brand name was, and where I got it. She thought the added amino acids helped to prevent the cells from rupturing. By the way, those strange bruises are called "mystery bruises".

Just a warning that chewable Vitamin C can damage tooth enamel
Also easy to get enough Vit C if you are eating tomatoes and peppers on phase 1 |
