When the sweet tooth strikes I have found it easy to satisfy with SF jello or the cocoa mix discussed here earlier. But what do you all do when the salty craving strike. Last night I wanted CHEX party mix...just about went crazy thinking about it...but I got over it with no damage done.

| Why don't you try some dry roasted peanuts or cashews??? (About 15) That'll curb your craving for salt! |

| Just saw on TV this morning an ad for a low-carb snack called, I think, Cheese Crisps (could be wrong there - it was a hectic morning - my phase 2 oatmeal burned - what a stink!). Anyway, these snacks are supposed to be like cheesy chips without the chip. I wonder if they're anything like the cheese crisps talked about in the food and diet area (microwaving or baking pieces of cheese until crisp). |

Hey there y'all! First....my humble opinion on those cheese crisps: if yer in Phase 1, I don't think they're allowed. No starchy carbs...just cuz they're low carb doesn't make them right for Phase 1. If yer in Phase 2, well, maybe they're okay...depends what they do for ya, you know?
Anyhoo....on the salt thing. An idea for you is to use some salt...if you're worried about too much of that, you can use low-sodium salt. I have some of that (Morton's) and it tastest the same to me. Dr. A recommends salt to help prevent dehydration and, also, to make sure you're getting enough potassium. As for what ya eat it on? Welp. How 'bout celery? You could even dip that in hummus! That has a good and satisfying amount of spices in it for me, usually.
Good luck! :P |

Hi Everyone...
The snacks you say advertised on TV are indeed allowed during phase 1. The company takes cheese and bakes it until it's a chip...then they add a little seasoning such as pizza, honey dijon or white cheddar. They are awesome and really...they are JUST cheese. They are called "Just The Cheese" and are made by the Specialty Cheese Company here in Wisconsin.
Good luck to all! |

I love potato chips. That was always my salt thing. I don't need sweets. Maybe a piece of chocolate hear or there but MAN do I love chips and dip.
I splurged yesterday and had a few salt n pepper potato chips YUM! But now I'm mad at myself. I already lost 15 lbs and weigh 121 now so I splurged a little bit. You'll have that! Now I just have to watch for a few days.
Anyway, what I normally eat when I'm good and need something salty is some dry roasted peanuts (very good) or cashews....salted overcourse! |

I love soy nut's. I keep a bag in my car for a little snack .
But I do love and miss my chips and dip. I've been making
the Flaxseed meal crackers and their great.
I've made different flavors by adding and changing seasoning but can't master the potato taste yet.
These Flax Crackers are worth making and very easy.

Be sure to read all the reply . I've omitted a lot of the salt with garlic
powder or onion powder the cheese is pretty salty.
Let me know how you like them. Great for Super Bowl!

Be careful on the pickles.....some are made with sugar.
Go to the health food or whole foods store and get some Umoboshi Plums. They look like cherries, but don't pop one in your mouth or it will make your eyes cross. Nibble, nibble, nibble. They are wonderful for your digestion, and to stop a stomach flu, etc.
Miso soup is good for that too, and very delicious....BUT, is it allowed???? |

I miss salty snacks too! I cut up cauliflower and put Lowrey's season salt on them and they remind me of bbq chips. Quick tip--don't store with the salt on them because they'll become watery and soggy!
Good Luck! |
