I just realized my acid reflux has completely disappeared after being on the beach. I can eat Pace Picante Sauce (medium) and it doesn't even faze me. Yippee!
I couldn't eat chocolate, spicy foods, or tomato sauce without having to pop an acid reducer before hand. Zantac used to be my bestfriend. It's so great not having to deal with it. |

| I use to have this annoying cough EVERY morning...almost like a tickle in the back of my throat. Ever since South Beach Diet, it has disappeared too!! This is so much more healthier than any other program I have ever been on. |

| I no longer hit the TUMS bottle very much anymore. I don't think I had full blown acid reflux, but just not getting any heartburn anymore is a good thing too. Of course giving up yogurt helped too. That was an automatic TUMS generator for me. I just kept eating it because I "thought" it was healthy for me and it was easy to take to work for a snack. |

My DH who is doing SB w/ me (half a#&*^&^ed anyway) used to have horrible gas.......and I hadn't even noticed that it had went away (maybe I was immune to the nastiness).....
However on our camping trip this weekend....he cheated....LOTS and it started up again.....It was nice that he noticed, and it was nice that he wants it to stop and I'm SOOOO thankful he went back to the SB way of eating.....
Isn't it wierd that food can do such horrible things to us? |

I am also an acid-reflux sufferer. I take aciphex. As long as I am following the SB, like you all, I am fine. As soon as I cheat, I suffer.
Has anyone every been awaken because they were choking on the acid that crept up into their esphaghus while sleeping? Just curious. |

Yep. That is the main symptom. |

| Hi. I don't have acid reflux but I have either IBS or something similar. Every single day by afternoon time, my stomach used to be completely bloated and hurting. I have gas every single day. Since I have been on Phase 1 I have not had one bout of this. No bloating, no gas, nothing. I'm a bit nervous about going into Phase 2 because I love how my stomach has felt these past 2 weeks. However, what I think will help, is that as I slowly introduce some other foods into my diet, I may be able to pinpoint what triggers this and learn what I should probably stay away from entirely. |

Hello jero6,
Try phase 2 anyway. I think you'll be alright. It was probably the white flour and sugar in you diet that was doing that to ya in the first place. Go slow with adding your phase 2 foods and see what happens. Let me know what happens.
GOOD LUCK! :)

That happened to me more times that I care to remember. It always burned your throat and mouth. I always had a sore throat from it the next day. I took Prevacid for a while, but never went back to the doctor and started taking over the counter Zantac.
I'm staying the beach for the rest of my life, if it means no more acid reflux, lower cholestrol, low blood pressure, and weight loss. |

| Last fall, I was having terrible gastro problems. Eventually ended up having to have my gall bladder removed and going on Prevacid. I haven't had any problems like that since, but I have also been staying on the meds. Now that I am eating healthier though, I think I might ask my doctor about going off prevacid. She said I could stop my high blood pressure medicine if I lost only a few more pounds. How great would that be to not have to take any prescriptions any more? Very great! |

Since SB I have only had one night with heartburn/acid reflux. Before SB ... almost everynight to the point I was going to go get that camera down your throat test! Yippee!!
Bad news, I now have way more gas. A lot of rumbling tummy at work and then the gas happens at night. One night my fiance asked me what the hell was wrong with me -- LOL. I told him I rather be a skinny farter than a fat girl with heatburn. :P
Sorry to be gross ...
