Thanks

i tried the l.a. program. they really pushed the suplements, and it was really strict. it was effective and i lost almost 30 pounds, but i gained over half of it back after i quit the diet. now i'm trying south beach. l.a. is effective, but it is really expensive and strict. they push the suplements way to hard. they are almost as concerned with what you buy (bars, vitamins, drinks and the such) as with what you loose. basically, you eat 3 fruits and thre vegetables, a little protein and an ass load of water. they only garuntee results if you buy the bars, and i think it is so effective because they ask you to check in 2-3 times a week. good luck though, if youre trying it. let me know how it works out. mae

I started LA Weight Loss in March and dropped 20 lbs. the first 10
weeks. Then I hit the dreaded plateau which lasted for roughly the
next 10 weeks. But I stuck to their program and started to exercise
at Curves. The weight started coming off again, just slowly.

Then I bought a copy of SBD and starting using SB friendly foods
along with the LA program. I am now losing roughly one pound per
week, which I am happy with. I have 15 pounds to go to reach goal.

The LA program is very expensive and if I knew then what I've since
learned, I would reconsider. Accountability is the best part of the LA
program. Writing in the food journal and weighing in 2 to 3 times
weekly. But I could have found this at Weight Watchers, less expensively.

Bottom line: I can see SBD as more of a life style change. The food
cravings I had before on LA alone have vanished. I'm satisfied on SB
and happy.

I considered LA Weight Loss but read terrible reviews of it on line. People seemed to be happy with some of the weight loss, but one thing I kept seeing was the supplements they push. I read that they work on commision from these bars, etc. I know you can't trust everyting you read but that seemed to be the general consensus.

I'm happier just watching my carbs. ;)

I knew someone that worked at an LA weigh less and they do get paid commission for selling supplements. 3%

My now sister-in-law worked there, thats how I met her and inturn my husband. I followed the plan for about 6 months but then I started to dread eating anymore bars, drinks, or following how strict the plan was. I did lose weight but I also found it bothersome to try and manage to get to the store to weigh in every couple of days. Plus, it became VERY VERY expensive overtime. It seemed like I was always dishing out money that sometimes I didn't have to spend. In all, I got fed-up one day and quit. If I had of known about the SB WOE then, I would have never gone. I think it was desperation on my part to lose weight... and yes, they do make most of their money from commisions.

Please no offense to anyone who had had success with the LA weight loss program, but my feeling is they are taking all your money and laughing all the way to the bank! They totally push the supplements and basically cannot guarantee your success (who would guarantee that anyway) unless you spens big bucks on theor bars, shakes, etc.

Then what happens when you stop eating their supplements? Obviously if you don't find some other "diet" to do, the weight will just come back. I know this is a franchise and they all are run independently, but I have heard horror stories of the one near my home. No thanks!

Two of the people in my office who tried SB are now doing LA Weight loss. They just could never get the hang of SB and I think they found it too "loose" and too complicated for some reason. Also the older gentleman was having cholesterol issues with SB (which I also thought was strange) and was advised to go off SB by his Doc. They both seem to love their LAWL program where they can eat their chocolate bars and it is really working very well for the younger woman. She has lost a lot more weight than she did on SB. Who knows if she will keep it off or not. They are both pretty much serial dieters, so I have my doubts. I know I couldn't do it, and it makes no sense to me after living the SB lifestyle, but I have been impressed with what she has accomplished so far. I think some people do better with something that is VERY structured like this. She gets her little card and it tells her exactly what she can eat, when she can eat and how much she can eat. I don't really see her learning how to eat, but I don't think that was ever a goal of hers. Sometimes it's just about the weight loss I guess.

I don't know much about it, but my sister has lost 30 pounds on it.

I tried it and lost 20 lbs. My problem with LA was that they never made me feel successful. I was very please to be loosing weight every week, even though it was only a pound. They would say things like "Oh, your down a pound. We'll have to take a look at your diary to see what went wrong." I just got tired of not meeting their expectations, when I was perfectly happy with what was going on.

That sucks! I see a lot of people here who have trouble celebrating any of their successes. A pound down is a pound down in my book! Heck even staying stable is better than gaining! Plus there are so many good things that go on with SB no matter what the scale says. Scales are notoriously bad feedback mechanisms, they just happen to be easy ones to use. There is a thread somewhere around here called "Non Scale Victories" just to celebrate all those successes that have nothing to do with a number on the scale. It's all good! :D

I felt compelled to tell my story..started LAWL back in August and by Oct I had lost 20 lbs...then they started creeping back on and I can tell you why...the foods they had me eating were making me CRAVE more..all I could do is think about desserts and really rich food. They have the bars you have to eat twice a day..if I had to eat another bar I swear I was going to hurt someone. Did I mention how EXPENSIVE it is? Everything is sold in BULK and so you are pretty much forced to purchase in order to continue "successfully" in your program.

Before LAWL I was on Weight watcher..which I lost 45 lbs on. Of course 15 of those lbs were back on by the time I decided to give LAWL a try. WW is something else...it is almost a "how can I manipulate my points so I can binge at night" diet. There is NO one on one counseling (which you do have at LAWL) and the meetings SUCK (sorry hope I am not offending anyone). I think it worked for me in the beginning because I was very over weight from gaining 50 lbs during my pregnancy. But once I started to plateau they were not in any way trying to help me figure out WHY I was no longer a weight losing machine.

I also have to add that through all this losing weight I was running up to 10-15 miles a week.

Glad to be giving SBD a try- noticed some changes in myself already and even if I backslide on this at least I won't have to pay for more WEEKS like with LAWL and WW. I can just go back to phase 1 and take my butt to the grocery store and stock up!

Thanks for letting me vent and tell my story!

If I needed help and direction I would do LA weight loss. My mother is doing it. If I had the money and it wasn't a problem I wouldn't mind trying it if I found SB too difficult. Mom has lost quite a bit of weight.

Also, if I had the money I'd hire a personal trainer at the gym.

ALSO, If I had the money I'd hire a personal chef as well as trainer, as well as make-up artist and personal stylist and then maybe I'd try to look like a movie star who has all those things.

IF ONLY I HAD MONEY....

but SBD has been great for me the past two weeks. hopefully p2 will go well.

I am extremely happy that I found this site! It has all the support of WW and recipes and ideas and ....and.....and.... It's just great!
I went to WW several times and it has never really stuck with me like it ought to. I think everyone needs to find the formula that works for the individual. SBD is working for me quite well but I must admit I still write everything down in a food journal (it helps me to keep track of dairy, vegetables, and water) but I don't worry with calories or points or whatever.
Has anyone tried these SBD products on the market? I probably won't because they are so expensive but on the other hand, the wraps look pretty tasty and would be a quick lunch option when I'm running errands.
Just wondering....
