Welp so far today it has been good. Been sticking to my plan and I just finished my 20 oz bottle of water woohoo.....so far including my morning cystal light its about 34 oz of water today and its on noon time. Holy crap! as raymonds father would say (on everybody loves raymond. love that guy lol) But I walked in the bathroom and saw that Im starting to get cellulite in my upper arms YIKES!!! So scared! Already have enough of that stuff on my thighs....geez being a woman is hard work! Not fair! Have to really crack down on working out. So If you guys could review my meal plans and let me know if Im doing ok. My plan is do 2 laps of walking around neighborhood takes about 20 mins then do 15 to 20 mins of arm workout with dumbells. So if anyone would like to give me pointers I would surely appreciate it. Plus I used to workout regularly and developed great muscle tone in my arms so it could be that I stopped and havent worked out since. I am really thinking about joining a gym....anyone else go to gym.......maybe an all female gym not sure yet. I decided that on my last break Im going to march up and down the stairs a few times to get some exercise....I have a sit down job So I think I need to get moving! Also does anyone know if I dont want to work out in gym but just take a class like kickboxing for example wonder if I will still be charged a gym memebership(fee)? Or would they just charge for a class? New to all this....when I was working out regular I did it in my own home. Sorry so long.

How long have you been on SB thus far?

I am currently a gym member in my hometown and I think gym membership rules vary depending on the location. At my gym I pay one monthly fee and many classes are automatically included in that. It does cost extra for individual or small group personal training.

I love getting on an eliptical/cross training machine. I have joint problems, and its a really low impact easy way to workout. I also try to lift weights twice a week too.

I love belonging to a gym, I have gotten tons of motivation to excercise from the people that work there. One of my friends is about to joins an all female gym. I think from what I have heard, she really liked the atmosphere there.

Hope this helps slightly. Good Luck!

I am kind of a workout fiend, but I have always been that way.... well since high school I guess, minus my freshman year of college when I decided to not workout, eat chicken fingers and pizza at 1 am, drink a lot, and thus gain about 20 pounds. :x  That was a few years ago though and since then I have trained for and finished my first marathon and fallen back in love with being athletic and active.

My best advice is to join a gym. One reason is because for me, knowing that 25 bucks is automatically coming out of my bank account motivates me to lift and exercise when nothing else will :D. Also, at my gym there are so many different classes available at all different levels. This makes exercising so much more efficient and exciting because the chance for plateauing or getting bored is significantly lowered when you can play raquetball, run, swim, kickbox, take yoga/pilates/piyo/step/hip hop/water aerobics, spin, or use one of the many exercise machines. Everything I have read in my fitness magazines suggests varying your cardio activities so that your muscles get used in various different ways. Not only this, but I like having a schedule where there is an actual time frame for a 60 minute class to attend. I have actually made a lot of friends in my classes and knowing that other people expect me to be there and having workout buddies is another key that helps me stay on track.

My sister-in-law, who is new to exercise, joined an all-female Curves-like gym and she enjoys it. I don't particulary like this way of fitness because it's a circuit program and I like to incorporate high-intensity cardio like spinning, running, and kickboxing. Curves uses a circuit of machines with short bursts of cardio in between from what I understand. However, for first timers or beginners, this may be the best bet because it's only like a 30 minute circuit and it's a good way of getting started.

Here is a typical workout week for me, but again I've been at this for a while:

Group kickboxing 2 or 3 classes a week (T,W, Sat morning)

Individual cardio (running outdoor/treadmill, elliptical, stepper) 60 mins twice a week (usually M and/or F)

Group spinning class once a week (Th)

2-Hr Hike, easy short run or rest day (Sun)

My new gym has raquetball courts so I may start playing that occassionally as well

I do about 45-60 minutes of weight lifting 4-6 days a week as well
(My routine is split up into 3 days and then I repeat: legs, triceps/chest , back/biceps/shoulders)

My gym does not charge extra for any of the classes but of course there are steep fees for personal trainers. And you know, if you can't to a gym or don't want to, I read that one of the best things to do is to just walk! Eventually you can build up your speed, your distance, your endurance and eventually jog, etc. This may make you more confident and comfortable in terms of exercise and then maybe you'll be more inclined to join a gym and try all of the cool classes they offer. I hope I've helped you some. Feel free to ask me whatever. I've actually considered becoming a trainer or instructor while I go through nursing school because I like fitness so much.

For me, working out at home is a better pay off than a gym. In college I lived near a 24 hour gym, and loved it, cause I could go at 9 or 10(or even 11 on some nights) and work out. I love working out at night because I sleep great after a good excercise. Now I live on the outskirts of Corpus Christi and the gyms close at 6pm and 7pm, so it's just easier for me to workout at home.

Thank you so much....you really helped me out. I am going to start a workout program and do some walking. I know there is a gym that offers discount sometimes in the paper so I am going to watch for it and maybe go check it out. I took a kickboxing class one time there b4. Sounds like you have a great deal 25 bucks a month? Wow I know a few around here cost 40-45 bucks. Thats another thing about joining the gym Im so shy but hopefully maybe I could make some friends. Well thanks again gotta go home and workout.

Well yesterday evening was a great accomplishment! I drank 74-79oz of water woowhoooo  When I got home I did arms workout with dumbells and then I did my abs AND after that I went for a walk around the neighborhood 2 times which took 25 mins its a big neighborhood. I did pretty well yesterday, kept with my plan......I got on the scale this morning and Im down 3 lbs now Im 120 exactly. I lost 7lbs in the 1st two weeks then after I got into 2nd phase I gained 3 lbs! Now Im at 120 was at 118 at the end of phase 1. So I think all the water helped me.Well at least I hope it did! How much water should I be drinking in ounces? Now I hope the weight loss starts kicking in since I am going to exercise regularly now and drink lots of water. Meal Plan today is as follows
Breakfast=1 c kashi cerwal in 1 c ff milk(I cut down 1/2 c was eating 1 1/2 c cereal
18 oz crystal lite
snack=yogurt 4 oz and if still hungry 4 oz musselmans lite applesauce
sweented with splenda=diet dr pepper
lunch=1/2 a whole pita whole wheat of course! And I chopped a hamburger patty up to put on top with lettuce and tomato and a feta cheese and 1 tbsp of greek dressing and sf jello
10 oz water
snack=2 slices roast beef and 1 oz cheese stick
10 oz water
supper= chicken breast (with bone in) in marinara sauce cooking in crock pot all day and a side salad and 20 oz crystal lite
Workout is going to be buns and thighs tonight before supper
so Im sure Ill have about 20-30 more oz of water before bedtime

Way to go with the exercise. I am so jealous that you are at 120 and haven't been exercising much. What was your start weight before phase 1? My goal is 120 by July 4th--- it seems so impossible to me. I have gained back the five-eight pounds I lost on phase 1 due to some weekend cheats. I'm a bit discouraged so hence, my grueling exercise regime.

I am closely watching my calories though, limiting myself to 1200-1300 a day, and I am trying to burn about 800 cals through exercise. I hope that I am not cutting too many though, which will slow my metabolism.

When I started SBD in January I was like 135, 5' 2" I guess, give or take. I have always had a flat tummy and been pretty slim everywhere but my butt and thighs, which are muscular but need firming up in the region nearest my butt. I was toned in my arms but not as much as I am now.

I lost about 16 pounds by March but with the influx of parties, Easter, my birthday, Mother's Day, etc., I started cheating and eventually gained back like ten of what I lost previously. Still I am very muscular, and really the only real flab or areas that need improvement are still my glutes and hamstrings. My muscles are strong there but because of my genetics this area stores fat and I have some nasty cellulite that lives there that is s-l-o-w-l-y going away. Because of my fitness level my upper body, arms, back and abs are in great shape.

I hate that most people complain about me dieting because they say they would kill to have my figure. It's not bad, I'll admit, but what I really want to do is just firm up my lower region, which takes diet AND exercise. I never want to lose all of my muscle definition and become a waif--- I think that looks gross. When I did SBD and lost the 16 pounds I did lose inches off of my thighs and my bubble butt noticeably shrunk. I know that it can happen again, but it's pretty discouraging that when I cheat just a little, I go all out and yo-yo back and forth between 125 and 130. I do keep in mind that I can still wear my size 4 and 6 clothing and my muscle mass probably accounts for most of my weight when I get a little caught up in the numbers on the scale.

Basically, I need to remind myself that losing inches is what counts, AND most importantly, feeling healthy and living a healthy lifestyle. I obsess over diet and exercise far too much IMO, and sometimes I need to just live..... Sorry, I needed to give myself a dose of reality.

So you lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks---that's great. What were your eating habits like before phase 1?

My eating wasnt that bad.....my hubby is a muscle man lol bodybuilder and he has taught me alot. And he trains hard at the gym he works out at a navy base because his friend was in navy and he trains his friend. Anyway enough about him lol. Seems like when I got on the pill I gained weight before then I was like 105-110 lbs and that didnt look bad on my frame. So my goal is 115-110. Dont have much to lose. Once I get to my goal I will probably be more into toning up like you are now. Im really trying to drink as much water as I can stand lol. Before I learned all I did from hubby I ate whatever whenever and you cant do that! I didnt really know anything about exercise and dieting( I lived a sheltered life lol). He is so supportive of me and hes even been eating what I make for supper thats south beachy. Talk to you again soon.

That's so awesome that your husband is into good health and is supportive of your diet. Often times spouses or partners can be bad influences. I am currently single, but it is very important for the guys that I date to care about health and fitness. My ex-longterm-boyfriend in college was very into fitness but he ate terribly. I worked out then, but not like him and at the time I ate whatever, whenever as well. Bad idea. Being with him I learned how to lift weights, etc., but I wasn't eating as healthy as I should. I basically taught myself everything I know about diet, nutrition, supplementation etc, through reading lots and lots of health articles and subscribing to various magazines. It feels good to know how foods affect me, what foods are best for me, and how to eat to live not live to eat. I tell myself that little mantra when I crave ice cream which is my ultimate indulgence food. I could probably give up every other sweet food (except maybe cheesecake), but I can't live without ice cream.

Good luck on your journey, hopefully we can keep supporting each other through this forum. I only want to get down to 115, and see how I look there. If I'm not satisfied maybe 110, but I don't stress about it. I don't want to loose too much because I fear that I may be starting to lose muscle. Also, my family complains if my face gets too bony!!!

Another question: Do you keep track of calories at all? I know we don't have to but I do  .

devon25

I too hope we can keep supporting eachother. Do you have a journal by chance? Just wondering. Yes In the beginning like the 1st couple weeks I kept a journal but its just so time consuming.....especailly when you have to workout, cook and get meals ready for work. So I guesstimate lol. I did write down everything yesterday and I figured in carbs sugars and protein and figured Im doing good in that department. My hubby's fav food is cheesecake and brownies....and he can eat whatever he wants and not gain.......although sometimes he acts like a girl saying he needs to work out harder........I tell him he acts like this girl I know shes like 100 lbs and says she fat makes me sick! :x I tell him I should have married a woman lol! I dont stress too much either about foods just try to do my best. You had mentioned that spouses can be bad influences the guy my hubby trains his wife is such a bad influence because shes over weight and I guess she doesnt want to lose weight and she all kinds of health problems. I feel sorry for the guy. Anyway I felt full all day with the foods I ate so Im glad about that. Yesterday I felt like I was hungry all day. Talk to you again soon.
