| What you all are saying about IBS, Acid Reflux, clearer skin, makes perfect sense!! When we consume white flour and sugar with other foods it all sits in our stomach and putrifies. Sounds grosse, but it is true. What is happening is You are digesting your food alot faster now that all the white flour, sugar, preservatives ect are out of the way. Our systems are much more alkaline now than before in its previous unhealthy acidic state. I have very severe acid reflux and as soon as I am bad and add either flour or sugar to my diet, I pay dearly!!! Its not worth it!! |

Benefiber doesn't have any sugar in it to begin with.
All it is is Partially Hyrolyzed Guar Gum(a 100% natural fiber), it has 20 calories, 4 carbs, 3 Dietary Fiber, and 3 Soluble Fiber, and 20mg of Sodium. |

wow...
just realized that my skin is much better
probably from drinking much more water than i did before
only drank like 1 glass of water a day, along with some OJ, and LOTS of soda
i notice that my skin is less blotchier
also, i used to like get such bad skin before my time of the month
but this time... my skin has so many less pimples and is not really blotchy anymore
seriously - never realized how much difference water can make...
now if i can just stop smoking.... haha |

| My skin and digestion is much better since starting the SB diet. I am less gassy despite eating more beans and cottage cheese. My blood pressure is also always in the normal range (even the days I cheated). |

Fatinboise,
Yes, isn't it incredible what a few changes can do for our bodies. The white flour, sugar and the lack of water are what really can kill us. Keep up the good work!! I'm having buckwheat pancakes for breakfast. UM!!! On phase 2 of course. |

My husband, who is 43, still suffers from acne and has had IBS for years. He agreed to do P1 with me. He cheated a little, but for the most part stuck with it. We left for a beach vacation with my family last week.
Our first day on the beach I mentioned that the acne on his back looked much better. I wondered aloud whether it was b/c of SBD. Well, a couple of days into the vacation he and I both carbed out! End of the story is that we felt like crap from it, but also he broke out terribly and his IBS was terrible.
Needless to say, he's convinced the diet is helping both problems and has agreed to stick with me on it. Glad you started this thread. I'll let him know that others are experiencing the same thing. |

I noticed immediately how much better my stomach was. I too have thrown out the Tums and Pepcid from the cabinet! Furthermore, I am more regular now that I have been in my entire life - thank you Kashi GoLean.
I hadn't thought about my skin, but you're right. I haven't been getting the PMS zits that I tend to get...woo hoo! I also don't get the headaches or backaches either.

| I'm a newbie, only on day 3, and have IBS problems along with esophacol (spelling?) spasms caused by GERD. I have a medication I take when the spasms get bad enough. I will definitely keep an eye on my condition and see if it improves after I've been on the SBD for a while. That would be great if it did improve! Glad to hear others are doing better with the IBS & other problems. |

It was interesting that this week I saw a very small article in an old Time magazine and then a bigger article in my Sunday newspaper about a condition called celiac. The gist of the article was that a number of people have this condition in which they cannot digest gluten. Often times, this condition is diagnosed as IBS. According to the article there is a simple blood test for it and sometimes doctors will biopsy the small intestine.
Anyway, there are two websites regarding this condition: www.celiac.org and www.celiac.com. There are probably more, but these were mentioned in the articles.
If nothing else, the sites have some SBD friendly recipes on them. |

Hi everybody, I just wanted to mention that I believe the major part of the skin clarity is the water intake. I used to work with a girl who had the most amazing facial skin... I asked her secret...she said... water. She drank TONS of water. I started doing the same and this was 20 years ago. A few weeks ago, I was in a meeting with some co-workers and we were talking about my 2nd marriage. He said "2nd marriage?... but what are you... 30 years old?" After I gave him a big old kiss on the top of his head, I said, "no, I'm 46." Then he made me prove it with the whole license thing. Ahhhhhhhhhh, felt great!
I have to think that a lot of water is also constantly flushing out not only fat cell contents but any toxins that our food is placing in our systems. And, of course, now that we're all eating much healthier, less toxins to begin with.
Isn't life on the Beach grand?! 8) |
