second time trying to post this arggg. started Jun1, 148, 5'1. Goal 122? First week is almost over and I have done well. I know that each day I have cheated alittle. Today 2 oreos, 7 pnut MMS, and 1/2 c coke. I also have major PMS- lots of retention and meaness. But not suffering from the cravings. My appetite has decreased as has my will to eat. I know I am hungry but I am not motivated to get up and fix dinner. I know this is not good. This only hurts my metabolism= slower weightloss. I bet I have been on the scale at least 5 times today. I haven't gained weight which I hope means in a couple of days I will lose some weight. I am doing the July challenge so I will weigh in on Wednesday. I am kind of excited but if I am still retaining h20 I will not be happy.
Today's food:b eggs and t. bacon
s. cheese stick
l. salad w/chicken,turkey wrap in cabbage
s. 30 pistachios
d. 1 cup of canned Tomato soup and probably another salad if I get motivated. |

Welcome to the beach. To get the full benefit of P1 you really need to cut out the sugar items. I know a lot of times we eat out of habit. I catch myself reaching for things and have to remember they arent ok.
And yes I have had cheats but not every day. Just think youneed some time with no sugar to get the benefit of the southbeach diet. Hang in there and Im sure those scales will look good on Wednesday.

Kelsey is right. I am well into the program and CHOSE to eat cake at my son's graduation party last Monday and have suffered from terrible cravings for sugar ever since. Normally, I can avoid sugar without any problem. It's a worse addiction than nicotine. Try to get away from it. At least you are trying :)

Today was better moodwise. It actually started out crummy because I spent so much time in the bathroom last night I was sure I would have dropped some of the pms weight but nope gained 1.5 I was really bummed but I know that this is temporary. I had a chance to clean up the house sort of. I have two young kids, 2 shedding dogs and 1 cat but I also have the neighborhood house so the house gets messy every afternoon. But I know where my kids are, who they are with and what they are doing so I'll take the clutter and the noise.
Today started off really well:
b- 1 boiled egg and 2 t. bacon, yogurt
s- something on the list but I have forgotten what
l- chicken cesar salad
s- pistachios I admit they were so good I had 2 servings
d- pitfall Dh turn to fix dinner, made Tuna salad on toast, scraped off the salad as best I could.
s- SB choc shake
And of course my h20 I didn't post yesterday but usually I drink 80+ a day without thinking about it.
I did learn that canned soup is not allowed. I misinterpreted the good carb good fat book. It states that it is good. I just read on another thread canned low fat bean soups are allowed. Thats good to know because soup is so easy for me to pop in the microwave. Turkey dogs are also allowed in very limited amounts. T. Dogs are poolside friendly. I also posted a thread regarding my suspicion that on the days I weighttrain my weightloss stalls but the hard work will show up in a couple of days. We shall see tomorrow. |

Missed posting yesterday but I was good until the evening. Waiting for Austin's swim practice 1 hour alone with a vending machine...1 coke and a twix. Only drank 1/2 coke.
Friday 11, Lost weight yeah down to 144, 1 lb from my first mini-goal.
Worked out (w/o) did chest and shoulders. I think I need more carbs. The day after I indulge, even sensibly, I lose weight. Of course this might be because of TOM. Birthday this weekend, goin to inlaws this weekend for cookout. They are doing modified atkins so actually it will be very easy to be good. Hamburgers on the grill yum. I think I can have blue cheese sprinkled on top. Of course no bun. Lucky for me I am not a huge bread fan. I can't wait to add a slice or two just for the convenience of packing a pita or sandwich for the pool.
Next training session with L. I can have carbs. Now should I have it before or after. I guess I will just have to compare days and see how I feel.
I w/o in the gym 3 x week (M) triceps/legs & abs
(T) cardio if schedule permits
(W) back/chest & abs
(T) cardio if schedule permits
(F) shoulders/chest & abs basketball as alt.
My DH gave me some personal training sessions as a Mother's day gift/Birthday. SHe has really helped. I am very comfortable in the weightroom even with a bunch of hairy sweating guys. I also have learned enough so that if the machine/barbell/weight I need is busy I have alternate exercises. Plus this keeps me from getting bored.
My problem areas are my thighs and bottom. But working with her I can see definition in my shoulders and calves. It is great to see a postitive somewhere you never noticed before. Well we will see how the weekend goes. |

Haven't posted in awhile weigh -ins wed 9 146.5, th-146.5, fr-144, sa 144.5, su, 145.5, m 145, tu 145. Haven't weighed since Tues 15. Did celebrate my Bday. I haven't lost weight but I know why. Worked out really hard Tuesday Lauri had me do a full body cycle with a very active recovery. Ohh my aching hamstrings, lower back and biceps. She said the muscles which were the "sorest" were the ones I needed to target. Took Wed. off to recover, planned to w/o Thursday but S was sick and couldn't take her to the gym. This week was VBS. Ended up eating supper there because I was there from 3 pm until 8:30. Today I had TB yuck. My body and tastes are definitley changing. I still do not like to start my day off with a carb. I have had apple and PB for the last 2 days for breakfast because I didn't have time to fix breakfast. I need to boil eggs. This weekend is going to be tough. Going to Hickory for Jim's return, family birthday, and Father's day. The cook -out won't be that hard but the other meals will be challenging. I can pick up a bag of salad, dressing, and nuts and try to stick as closely as I can. DH and I plan on working out Sat. at the Y. Sunday on the run uggh. Well, I guess it will be a salad at McD.
I am going to t5ry and find a talisman to wear as a silent reminder as to my goals. I am try to re-phrase my goals. I only have 26 lbs left, less than 30 lbs, 5 lbs at a time, 6 lbs and I am in the 130's.
My goal is to lose 1 lb this weekend. I am thinking about taking fiber pills to help me not go overboard. Silently, I think this is a cop out because I am not facing the real challenge of changing my bad habits but I don't think I am to that point yet. Better to take a short cut rather than lose/ gian ground. Anyhoo, I'll update the journal Monday. |

Man I can't believe how hard it is to make time to get on the computer. I don't think I have posted in my journal since last Friday. Well, I did okay at home for Jim's celebration, worked in an extra treadmill session but Sunday night for Father's day we took Dh to Japanese. Even though I didn't eat that much it showed up on the scale but I did lose it over the next two days. Trying to figure out how much I have lost today 145, 9 mos preg. 196, prepreg 156, married 132 (9 yr span). Dropped the preg weight fairly quickly settled to 162, down to 158 and then tried to actually lose weight from that point so 158 to 145= 13 lbs Yeah me.
Other bonuses to SB, my eating selections have changed dramatically. I am rarely so tempted that I can't overcome it. My one weakness is coke but DD solves that by drinking when I don't watch. I don't like the bloating I get from the carbonation so that does help with the temptation. I just feel so much better not eating all the bad carbs. I am finding ww breads which are good. I love cheese sticks and V-8. Nuts are good on the go. And I love feeling comfortable in the weight room. Kashi Go Lean Crunch, its a good thing. I mix it with Fiber One. Still trying to find Laughing Cow cheese. Love the p1 milkshake. Read the article on h20 and am going to try and increase my intake to 128-160. This will take into account the summer weather, my extra 25 lbs, exercise and the normal intake my body needs 75 oz.
I am having much better workouts after adding carbs to my diet. Usually have high fiber cereal for breakfast. Lately, I have been lazy regarding my meals and I need to take time for me by fixing actual sit down meals. But in the summer, salads are so much easier than meals. I do admit I try to limit the salad dressings to the recommended sugar levels but not always. I get tired of Balsamic and Ranch dressings. So if later on I have to look at my diet pitfalls that will be earmarked. But for now I feel a lot better with my carbs and my body shows more definition even if the scale doesn't show it.
Actually, tomorrow will be either a great day or a real bummer. I am getting my haircut after 6 months but most of all I am going to try and find a dress for DSIL wedding. Something short and tropical. I know I am not where wanted to be but that's my fault for taking so long getting on the SB train but at least my curves are coming back. I plan on hitting the beach looking reasonably good. Ahh now to find a good self tanner. Happy thin thoughts to all who might read this. Shannon |

It was the first time I have been on a major shopping trip in a very long time. I was very prepared to be disgusted. But I found I was a solid 10. It didn't matter which stores I visited. I found a great dress for SIL's wedding. Fitting into a size 10 dress with my bust is a great surprise. Usually, I am a 14 or above just to get my bust covered but Lori has been working my back so I guess I am losing that bra fat!
Saturday I ate okay.Mongolian grill - lots of stir fried veggies. Once agin I added too much cayenne pepper. Sunday not so good. Had a very sleepless night, very tired. Just now connected that to low will power. Dh brought doughuts and neighbors had a bday party for the little one. Had 1/2 slice of pepp. pizza and 1/2 coke. But surprising the scale is showing it. I know it is stupid to get on and off the scale as often as I do but I can't help it. Everytime I go to the bathroom I gotta see the numbers. So right now the scale is only registering a 1.5 fluctuation for the day which should mean I will be down a lb tomorrow. But I am severely constipated. I think this happened last time I was getting ready to pms. I have to go back and double check my dates. I swear I just had my period. I think I read somewhere women have a surge or plunge in estrogen before their TOM thus causing cravings for carbs ie choc. I think I also read estrogen can cause constipation. Ergo, low carbs+ fluctuating estogen = worse constipation. I have never a had problem with constipation so this is really bothering me. I also seem to "slow" down when I take a fiber pill. Which I took a couple of days ago. I didn't seem to have a problem when I added fiber one and Go lean to my diet. In fact things were great. Okay, gotta head to bed and make up for my sleep I didn't get last night. |

Hi Kelsey (if you read stop by). You have done an incredible job. You have lost 54 lbs. Awesome!!!!! So what has been the best part of this diet for you? How long do you think it will take you to reach your goal? What is the best recipe you have discovered? Any tips?
Started p1 over Tuesday, June29th and I feel much better. I lost 1.5 lbs the first day. W/o on Friday with Lori- oh my aching shoulders. She showed my a new dip and it really targets my triceps. They aren't flapping as much but they still have a ways to go. Of course because I worked out so hard I "gained" lb but it should go away Sunday. But Dh bought a bottle of wine and wants to share. I will have to really drink my H20. I might go make some crystal lite so I can pound some liquid. I should start having PMS soon but I don't think I will have it too badly because of p1. I actually like p1 because I don't have to think about my food. I think I may do a couple days of p1 every month. Ha ha. I am not sure if I am strong enough to handle the estrogen flux.
Today I am preparing for the week: I made a big pot of chili, cooked some chicken breast and bought my veggies. Found a new tip, used hummus instead of mayo for tuna salad. Didn't think it would be very good but it really was tasty. I also weeded the flowers for 3 hours.
Just previous log entries should be getting TOM around the 12/13th. Yeah, it will be gone before my trip and I will my thinnest for the month. Trying to stay focused on getting to the 130's. I know it won't happen before the trip but for some reason 130's seem so impossible and so far away. |
