Well, I guess I'm a little unobservant. I just noticed this section of the board. I was just telling my sister last night that I thought I might start a food journal (was thinking I'd write it down) and then I saw this section. I hope I will have the time to do it each day. I started the SBD on May 31, 2004 and so I am now on day 5 of Phase I. So far I've enjoyed this way of eating very much, but I am really looking forward to fruit and Whole Wheat bread. I was on Atkins and lost a little, but I really missed fruit, so I'm doing SB now.

How about sharing the chocolate banana shake. We have tried a few different kinds of shakes but non were that great.
I tried the noodleless lasagne with my family and no one likes eggplant. It was worth a try. We have tried many new things and really like some of them. Good luck on the diet.
You must like boiled eggs. I can only eat them once in a while they are so dry. You menus look good. |

Hey Kelsey, yep it was homemade.
Recipe (this is an estimate, I didn't measure):
3-4 cubes of frozen yogurt (see notes below*)
1 cup of milk
generous splash of SF Davinci Banana syrup (I think banana extract would work you would probably need to add some sweetner though)
2 TBL SF FF Chocolate Pudding mix(I know, not legal until P2)
Put it all in a blender and blend until smooth. I also put it back in the freezer for about 30 minutes to let it get good and frozen.
*I froze ff plain yogurt in an ice cube tray and after it was frozen, I popped them out and put them in a freezer bag. Note: This does kill the friendly bacteria in the yogurt.
I used zuchini in my lasagna, but I didn't particularly care for it either. |

Thanks for the recipe- I just ordered some of the syrups because the closest location is 60 miles away. Guess what I ordered banana. My daughter and I thought it would be good in the flaxseed muffin recipe- would taste like banana muffins.
Glad to hear that I am not the only one that has not liked the lasagne. :D
You would like the meatza pizza it was wonderful- if you need the recipe you can pm me |

Kelsey,
I've ordered them from http://www9.netrition.com/low_carb_products_page.html
They're the Davinci Sugar Free syrups made with splenda and they are wonderful!
Redrabbit,
I'm so glad you got the banana! What brand do you buy? Also, I made flaxseed muffins (awhile back) and used the banana syrup and pecans and they were really good. I'm going to pm you for that pizza recipe.
B: one boiled egg, 2 turkey bacon, V-8
S: turkey w/mozarella slice
L: Leftover taco salad
D: Grilled Lemon Pepper Talapia and steamed veggies
S: probably another chocolate/banana shake (it was really good!) |

I bought the Da Vinci syrup because everyone seems to think they are the best. Here is the recipe. It is wonderful. I also have a great quiche pizza recipe and one chicken, veggie with creamy garlic quiche that my daughter and I created if you like this one.
Meatza Pizza
1-2 lbs extra lean ground beef or turkey (depends on the size pan you are using)
2 eggs
Tomatoe Paste/Tomotoe Sause (watch the grams of sugar - keep it low, less than 3 g)
No-fat cheese - chedder & mozerella (or low-fat)
Veggie/Canadian bacon toppings
Brown the meat in a skillet. Don't overcook it. Take it just past the pink stage.
Drain the grease off. Put in casserole dish and let cool.
Add two eggs and mash it all around and then pack it down tight.
Mix up a sause to the consistancy of your liking. Use a small can of t. paste (6 oz?) and add t. sause. Sprinkle in some oregano. Spread it over the meat "crust."
Sprinkle some cheese over the meat and then add your favorite toppings.
Here's what I used:
canadian bacon
onions
green (bell) peppers
Add some more cheese
Cook at 350 until cheese melts - about 40-45 minutes.
Other toppings: mushrooms, olives, whatever! |

Hey there...thanks for the info on the syrups...I am going to definitely try to find them. I am dying for fruit taste without actually having fruit. I'm still Phase I for another week. Today I am trying fat free cottage cheese with a little SF jello sprinkled in for added flavor. I'll see how that helps with my fruit cravings.
Great recipes too!!! I couldn't get hubby to try eggplant so I'm going to try a bake with spinach, ricotta and tomato sauce and see how that turns out. I'm not quite sure, but we'll see, it's on the menu for this week.
Take care all....

Here is the Deep Dish Pizza
Deep Dish Quiche Pizza.
4 oz. cream cheese
4 eggs
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon chives
1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
2 cups Italian cheeses (I used the grated pre-packaged mix of pizza cheese)
1/2 tsp. wet garlic or 1/4 tsp. powder
1/2 cup low carb spaghetti or pizza sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese
Toppings i.e. pepperoni, black olives, green olives, mushrooms, ham, bacon, peppers, onions, etc.
Beat together cream cheese and eggs until smooth.
Add cream, parmesan cheese and spice
Spray 9” baking dish (I use a pie plate), with oil. Put 2 cups of pizza cheese in dish and pour egg mixture over it. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
Spread on pizza sauce, sprinkle on mozzarella cheese and add your favorite toppings. Bake until bubbly hot, approximately 10 minutes. Let it stand a few minutes before cutting. I like my cheese on top, so I add my toppings after the pizza sauce and put the mozza cheese on last.
Fot the garlic chicken pizza quiche
Prepare the quiche or crust as described above.
Instead of pizza sauce I mix 3 ounces low fat cream cheese with 3 ounces ricatta cheese and 2-3 cloves garlic, pressed or chopped. I sometimes add 1 Tablespoon butter substitute. blend together in processor or by hand. When the crust is done, spread this over the top and top with mozz cheese. I then add chicken, mushrooms, onions, pepper. whatever you like. Bake same as one above. |
